The chink in the dragon's armor in all this are the legit Inter-Sex people who are quite numerous across the board of every culture and race around the world, even if a very small minority independently. These people have variations 'born' of the both sexes, etc. Gender is not a biological act as it is processed through the constructive of the mind. The Cop-Out is delivering physical change via surgery to bend the body towards what the mind needs, rather than reset the mind back to suit the body's needs via council, etc.
The 'cultural' grooming of the younger sex to develop opposite to their body structure, though sometimes due to the demands of a crises.

It's the Inter-sexes who are the most isolated, probably the most fearful being discovered of having to be of sound mind to their situation when dealing with other 'normal' people. You could imagine what it would have been like for them if they were caught by the Homosexually ruled Spanish Inquisition. More than a Hetero being lowered onto the spike by his bottom for lacking the purity of God's wishes in abstinence from the evil of a woman's desire.
