I'm not going to guess at what you mean, and then have you accuse me of misinterpreting you.

I am not asking you to (cryptically) explain your support for free speech. I'm still trying to pin you down on the quote I posted you saying that 'hate speech that can lead to violence' is not 'incitement to violence'.

How do you figure this? If nutjobs are motivated to kill someone because of what someone said to them - then that speech is incitement to violence. Thats just a simple fact. Acknowledging this doesn't in any way diminish your devotion to "free speech" - but it does mean having to acknowledge that you believe that incitement to violence is a necessary evil to support - in order to uphold the greater good of free speech.

There is nothing cryptic about it. This is the legal (and moral) principle I am basing it on. It is literally taught to first year law students using the proverb. Answer the question correctly, and you will have shown that you also understand the principle. Just try it, grasshopper.
