Thanks, Sprint.

My aunt is feeling a bit better now. I still believe it was something she did last Thursday - bending over or something like that.

I had a biopsy done on the lump on the right side of my thyroid last July but the results were inconclusive. The doctor at RPH said there was a 15% chance it could be the beginning of thyroid cancer which is why they're (hopefully) removing it on February 25th.

At least I managed to complete my nearly 8 weeks of 5 day a week radiation treatment for prostate cancer (39 "fractions" as they call them) from mid October until mid December before an outbreak of COVID happened here in Perth, that's what I was most concerned about before the treatments started.

Cant even believe that question was asked. I mean, why didnt we have large quarantine hotels fully equipped and with appropriate staff and security  in isolated locations just waiting for an epidemic to come along.

I think they want them sent to something like Aboriginal missions. Perhaps Christmas Island or other such facilities even though they would claim those facilities are not fit to send border breachers to.

Perhaps reopen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Head_Quarantine_Station
WA could use Rottnest Island.

COVID-19 Lockdown Sparks Perth Panic Buying | 10 News First.

Dunny paper gone.

In Melbourne during out lockdown -
the plumbers did a roaring trade as people had
flushed kitchen paper towels down the dunnies and
blocked the sewers as they had no crap paper.

I've never understood that TP thing, We have two toilets both in bathrooms, toilet paper is handy and all but a trip from the dunny to the shower is not an international flight.

It seems some people think TP for their bungholes is the height of existence. It seems there are a lot of Butt-heads out there.

I reckon even Rottnest island is a brain fart. The logistics involved are insane whichever. As has been shown you cant just put people somewhere and expect them to stay there.

So, I wonder which hotel quarantine f___up is responsible for this latest outbreak?

Let's see... might have something to do with this new highly contagious strain of COVID-19 spreading through the hotel airconditioning system? Which, last I heard, was the #1 suspect in the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Brisbane outbreak a few weeks back. Although we still haven't seen any results from testing to see if that was the case. They wouldn't be trying to "sweep it under the carpet" and hoping everyone forgets about it, would they?

Or, is it possibly another case of hotel quarantine "guards" not doing their job properly... too busy playing with their phones, sleeping on the job, sleeping with "returned travellers" in quarantine, etc., etc.

One thing is certain - our Premier, Mark McGowan is no doubt very worried right now seeing as we have a State election in just over a month. Which is probably the main reason for the "snap" lockdown.

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be leaving Rottnest Island until the end of their quarantine. I doubt too many of them would be capable of swimming the 18km to the mainland.

Sleeping bags on a coral outcrop up north somewhere? Dampier Islands? Just not in my back yard, please?  Grin

yeah, until the first one drowns trying to attempt it.  They will still need to quarantine within their facilities on Rottnest which will require a level of enforcement, that would involve another whole workforce to be recruited, trained and housed appropriately.
