One newspaper article said it was a crossbow! Tongue

That was a mistake.
It was a compound bow.

I used to have a reverse bow and arrows when I was a young teen.

It was much more effective than I imagined.
Silent, fast, lethal, light, accurate.

That was 40 years ago.
One now would be amazingly good.

could be, it was carbon fibre, or some sort of fibre.

They are pretty surprising, aren't they ?

I have my own suspicions about you.

As an example, I suspect your ability to contribute in a meaningful way to a debate is severely limited.

Is my suspicion correct?

they're all carbon fibre .. the compound bows have cams on them that take up the pressure when you draw, the recurve is all you.

They're not surprising ... for what you paid, I expect them to have a bit of ommmff

one of my bows is a hand made 'souvenir' from bali or some such place, that one is surprising .. the arrow off one of those went straight through the tyre on a dump truck they use to spread the rubbish at the tip ..i was going to throw it away and thought I'd shoot one last arrow with it, expecting it to bounce off ... the damn thing went straight through ... after that I could bring myself to throw it away and I brought it back home with me

Why are ordinary people, who have no real need for 'weapons' allowed to have them?
I understand a number of professions have weapons incorporated in their job.
But why can 'People' attain dangerous weapons?

Do they have a Consitutional Right to attain weaponry because their own Military and Police can't be trusted, are incapbable, etc?

Stupid over-complicated world we live in.

I think I might go out and buy a semi-automatic and a few explosive arrows to a Compound Bow and just put down 'Hunting' on the dotted line.

Pest control on the property... amazing the nutters who can get and hold gun licences... one used to set booby traps with shotgun cartridges for wombats.... the guy next door was as mad as they come but he had a licence... the farmer across the creek used to shoot deer that wandered onto the property... the first two between them offered me an unregistered firearm and explosives.... what did they think I'd do with them?

That's the kind of nutter there can be out there with a licence, and they can even be involved in illegal firearms trafficking, and nobody says boo except Peccary about 'white supremacists'.... he's wrong but not far off the mark in some ways... Rednecks are pretty crazy and just dumb enough to go the rat.
