If it was owned by mates in the know - that's just par for the course...

Market value is one thing price is another thing altogether.

The land wasn't owned by a yokel dairy farmer, it was owned by one of the wealthiest farming families in the state who also own a ton of commercial real estate so they knew exactly how much it was worth.

Right now there are parcels of land in Bringelly selling for $1.5/H and they aren't even in a place where the Govt plans to build a runway.

Of course its corruption.

That's what the grubberment does best.

I think, should it ever be properly investigated, several public servants will have gained considerably as a result of this exercise.

The bank accounts of every gruberment employee involved, even a little bit, should be checked out very carefully.

Then if/when the cash has been found, all and sundry should be charged and gaoled.

The cash and property of all involved should be seized as proceeds of crime and the grubberment ministers involved sacked without pensions.

Its the only fair and honest way.

You can draw your own conclusions from this:
Billionaire family's windfall gain 'tip of iceberg' for land sales near new airport

Selected quotes:
Quote:
The federal government forked out almost $30 million for land owned by Tony and Ron Perich's Leppington Pastoral Company in 2018, only for the Commonwealth to value the 12 hectares at just $3 million less than a year later.
Quote:
The Leppington Pastoral Company – one of their many property and food manufacturing assets – has donated tens of thousands to the Liberal and National parties in recent years. It also donated about $20,000 to the NSW branch of the Labor Party in the 2000s. There is no suggestion, and the report does not allege, the Perich family's donations to the Liberal party influenced the sale of the land.

An airport has been proposed for that spot for 50 years. They bought land on spec and won.

Good luck with that, if either of the Major Parties is in power.

The LNP "attempt" would give us one with some power to go after crooked Public Servants, but would not be able to make findings of corruption against Politicians. I mean, what the hell is the point of that???

I doubt Labor's would be much better. It WOULD be better, no doubt...but not by much.

The entire premise of the story is BS. The land was worth $3m 20 years ago Smiley

If you owned the bit of land where the Govt wanted to put a runway, would you sell it for what they valued it, or would you bend them over get every cent you could?

Here's a block for sale now, $3m/H.

Call ICAC?

Even if the premise if BS, we still need a federal ICAC.
