Activity watch

Some really useful functions on this watch.

The sleep monitor, you obviously don't need a monitor know if you've had a good sleep, but being able to look at the split between light, deep and REM is interesting. I had a chest cough which I'm just about over but for 2 nights I had a terrible sleep and could see lots of periods of being awake, hardly any deep sleep and only one REM cycle.

Another very interesting thing and something that is pretty import is to look at your heart rate while sleeping.

My heart rate during sleep sits between about 50-60 but last night here was one short spike where it went up to 80, I compared it to the sleep graph and it was during an REM sleep cycle, and I had a weird dream so that would be it!

Haven't had a chance to do any runs or proper swims yet because of this stoopid cold, but looking forward to it.

I used to have a 735XT but will update to the instinct since its tougher. I used to use the 735XT for rides all the time.  Just remember Gordon if its not Strava it didn't happen.

They are pretty interesting.

I have a Fitbit. Good to track sleep and heart-rate.

Reminds me to get off my bum each hour to put in some steps.

Definitely a useful aid in improving fitness.

Ha, I can say with 100% certainty that I don't care to view anyone else's workouts and I'm sure it's 100% reciprocal.

Some of the higher models have some cool features but I don't like the look of them as much until the Fenix6 range and I'm not spending $1200 on an arm gadget.

The full high res screen would also be cool for the nav apps, but having a low res screen with no apps has a plus side, when you're out it's just a watch.

I don't know how long this effect will last, but it makes me want to go to bed earlier so I get my little green tick of having enough sleep.

Must keep watch happy!

You can get FitBits for one-third of the price of that Garmin watch. And just as useful.

I have a fitbit at home here that I cannot use anymore because the battery is no longer replaceable. I would fork out $150 for another one.

You mean it won't recharge anymore?

Have you tried plugging it into a USB port and holding in the button on the watch for a few seconds to "reset" it?

You might get lucky and fix the recharging issue?

The fitbit was playing up in the last few weeks that I was using it. It did not last a 40 minute walk the last time I went it used it. The battery is dead. The Battery World guy did not have a battery suitable to replace. And I am told that I just have to find an updated model. I might just get one of those $90 watches that do the same job.

You might as well set a timer on your phone and see how long it takes for you to do your run.
