Residents in the suburb where a young man was stabbed to death during a bloody melee involving 20 people are too afraid to speak out about the escalating crime in their community.

Between June and September 2020, some 220 offences were reported in Zillmere, in Brisbane's northern suburbs.

On Sunday night, members of warring gangs began fighting behind the local PCYC on a soccer field, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Girum Mekonnen.

Up to 10 more people were carted off to hospital after the fight - including two who remain in a critical condition.

Why do the Libs and Labs keep introducing things that destroy Australia?

They brought in foxes, camels, rabbits, cane toads, black rats, muslims .... and now black Africans

I've never voted for the ALP or the Coalition, I woke up to them when I was young and when I first learned about political parties and voting

They killed off all the Tasmanian Tigers and other native species.

They chained and killed Aboriginals and stole their children.

They sent tens of thousands of young blokes to get killed in foreign lands when our population was only a few million.

They allowed Atom bombs to be exploded in the Outback contaminating the place with radiation

They cared nothing for soldiers returning from Vietnam

Their immigration program is non-negotiable

Their police forces are trained to be thugs

What motivates people to vote for these political Lib Lab creeps? It's time voters stopped voting for them and voted for other parties

Police have charged 10 people with murder over a Brisbane brawl that left a teenager dead and several others critically injured.

Girum Mekonnen, 19, died after a fight between two groups of about 20 African youths at playing fields in Zillmere on Sunday afternoon.

Ten men aged between 18 and 32 are in police custody and will face the Brisbane Magistrate's Court on Thursday on a string of charges.

They have each been charged with one count of murder, 12 counts each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and one count each of affray and disobedience to lawful order.

Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming earlier told reporters it will be alleged those involved went to Zillmere with the intent to assault the victims.

"This was an event that was highly confrontational and has been traumatic for the victims of the crime and their families," he said.

"It's just unacceptable to have people in a public space who are going about their business then attacked this way."

Paramedics took 11 people to hospital suffering stab wounds and blunt force injuries after one group attacked another with knives and baseball bats.

Some of the victims were knifed in their torso, pelvis, head and face.

Three people remain in hospital with one in a serious condition.

Police believe three carloads of people arrived at the Zillmere park seeking retribution for another incident in Brisbane's west on September 8.

Earlier, police said they were concerned some victims won't cooperate with investigators and may take matters into their own hands.

"It's a horrific, unacceptable attack in our society," Det Supt Fleming said.

"But retribution is not going to solve the problem."

Det Supt Fleming says more people may be charged.
