Renamed soon to.... United Republic of Victoria!
There’s no guarantee you will leave alive.
Enter at own risk.
In the meantime, this travel forum is a great opportunity to rub it in to us Victorians and boast of your travels around Australia, especially that sunshine state of Queensland.... yes yes.... perfect every day
Your travels are now our mind escape.
Oh and our fading memories of that thing we once had called freedom!
Lucky for photos we can mind trip for now.
Carry on... and keep travelling...👍
I'll play Lols, even though I have told this tale before.
Way back, 1974, I was the inaugural retained Lawyer for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Legal Service (ATSILS) in Rocky.
It had and still has a significant Aboriginal etc Community especially reaching into Mt Morgan. Those were the days of Whitlam throwing money around.
West of Rocky was Woorabinda, an Aboriginal 'reserve" and I had to go out there once a month to see if anyone needed any legal assistance.
Best and quickest way was to fly, given Whitlam was gushing with money for ATSILS.
In I get to a Cessna 180 at Rocky Airport, paid for by Whitlam, just me and the Pilot. Woorabinda was advised of my being there to listen to any legal issues the locals had.
We get there, Pilot buzzes the township to let them know we have arrived as the landing strip is about a klm from the township.
We land, and out I get, to be greeted by a blue-black Aboriginal in full firefighter regalia, and he was driving the firetruck, in pristine shiney red. Jayzuz, it was 3000 degrees in the shade and there he was wearing that heavy firefighter stuff.
It was their most official whitey reception.
After that crap, I drove out there.
