Tear it down and make it a Rio Tinto mining sight.  Cheesy
Just another example of Primitive Whitey until the Romans came and civilised the monkeys.

Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting,
"Holy Sh!t ... What a Ride!"

I visited Stonehenge for the first time a couple of years ago, and really enjoyed it.

Sure, it's just a bunch of rocks in a sheep paddock (literally - there are sheep running around behind the fence), but it's very interesting to see and the place is well organised.

They have (modern) shuttle buses that run from the visitor centre up to the rocks every few minutes.

From memory, it was a 2 minute bus ride.  You can walk if you want to, it's not that far.

The rocks are visible from the main highway, if you just want to drive by and have a quick look.

And, if you're travelling out that way it's worth continuing on to Bath - a very nice little town.

Indigenous houses in west Victoria had stone walls over 1 metre high like neolithic great dolmens in Germany.  Britain built nothing like Stonehenge between 2000 BC and Roman times. France has no stonehenge nor does Denmark , Russia, Congo, Vietnam, Italy or New York. Egypt put Britain to shame but we won't go into that .

I did a school excursion to Stonehenge and I must confess, when we first saw it we all said, is that it? But the most interesting thing about it is how it was built, and knowing that 5000 years ago they had a society complex enough to create such a thing.  They had food surpluses to employ specialists to work on it full time and a societal structure sophisticated enough to organise it.

The Pont du Gard aqueduct, Angkor Wat and the temples of Began are also mind blowing.

I wish we had cool stuff like that in Australia.

Saxon houses in Britain including the big ones resembled Aboriginal houses such as at Bribie Island Qld. Egyptians probably were racist about the poms which is understandable.

What's the biggest Aboriginal stucture, apart from Ayres Rock?

An interesting thread about scientific discovery which you then ruined

The reason I made most 2 was this morning ABC 702 interviewed one of the archaeologists who discovered it, then ABC listeners called and texted in asking for more research into Aboriginal sites.

So my question stands. Apart from piles of shells on a beach or cave paintings, what significant artifacts did aboriginals create?

They created the Greatest Real Estate on Earth and like 'Gardeners' and 'Farmers' - they created a sustainable land of  good food and provision with what they had here... while the early Penal Settlement couldn't comprehend all the food around them and nearly starved if it wasn't for a few Whaling Ships from America who gave them provisions because, like Burke & Wills, etc - they were too arrogant to ask the local Aboriginals for help or 'trade'.

If Humanity never finds 'life' out there in the galaxy where it takes thousands of years just to reach the nearest star - then the Aboriginal culture gives us hope that we can at least survive for 40,000 years alone in the universe.

Grin No I'm not a Boong, even for financial reasons and I'm flattered you called me an 'arse' and not an 'ass'. Good to see someone is literate.
But I do respect and learn from my 'fellow' Australians - even if most of them still can't or don't bother to learn about the rest of the world outside their 40,000 years of isolation. But I reckon it's easier to break a 5 year ice or crack addiction, than 40,000 years of cultural isolation.

Aboriginals had 'Plith' sites similar to Stonehenge - but Whitey destroyed them and stole the large tall stones for their own device. They had Pliths long before Stone Henge and many cultures around the world also had Plith sites. Now there are no more Plith sites so obviously Whitey can say "What Pliths?" Roll Eyes

Probably the same sun was used by Egypt , Britain and Aboriginals.  Although Egypt's sun is more up-market and more north-south at midday. A better colour also not that dull yellow they had here.

We have a 1 meter wall in Victoria. Why isn't the landscape dotted with these structures ?
