I once lived with one of the original Anti-Apartheid South African dissidents. He got to Australia alive, while two others were killed by the SA Govt at the time. Though he lost eyesight in one eye.
He taught me much about Politics in the time I knew him. Tall Aryan blonde South African. He told me once, back in 2003 that 'backbencher' Rudd will be the next PM and in 2007 he came from nowhere to become Kevin 07'.
Nicknamed the Milky-Bar kid. He managed to suppress Peter Garret's threat by the Greens by absorbing him into the ALP and shoving him in an empty room to do nothing. Garret 'took the money' and it bit him in the arse.
Rudd was very slick, but he didn't see the 'backstab' coming from the very ambitious Juliar Gillard who was more a meglo-maniac than he was. Rudd was good, but not good enough against women.
Howard was good with Guns and got International acclaim although only 2% of those guns were destroyed. Australia has more guns now, than when he was around - ironically.
Alas for Howard, he was our worst 'Environmental' destroying PM and could easily say 'Deforestation prevents Fires'.
Hawke was just a drunk, womanising, union despot who enjoyed the gravy train and worked the Media the best.
Keating should have stuck at Treasurer, he was great - but like all 'over-achievers' who stole the PM position and it was a gradual slide down for this guy who's only claim to fame now was his clever witty 'remarks' and sledging.
Abbott was good at keeping the 'ranga' women in their corners with putting Hanson back in her place and showing Gillard what she truly was. More a man of 'action' than 'talk' - in fact he was the worst 'talker'... though his remark about 'shirt-fronting' Putin caused a stir Internationally. Too 'macho' for Politics, no wonder he copped a head-butt attempt.
Turbull was good at Economics, like Keating. But lacked that 'Political' spark always and couldn't 'buy' his way out of losing to ScoMo.
ScoMo is your orthodox Protestant Politician and so far has taken the bull by the horns in the most hardest period for any PM since World War 2. His holiday timing was terrible and he still gets criticism for his 'absolute power' attitude over experts in non-political crisis. God heals people, more than the Medical and Rescue services.
