Bloody hell, doesn't sound like it's worth the effort.

What Does A Cactus Pear Taste Like?
The flavor of a cactus pear is sweet, but somewhat bland, similar in flavor to a melon.

It's certainly not bland.

The flavour is distinctive. I've never had a melon taste remotely like it.

The only thing I can liken dragon fruit to is watermelon - denser, sweeter, but somehow very simple. Like it only has one type of sugar in it. I wouldn't say bland, because the sweetness is strong, but there is nothing else there.

Love watermelon, especially 'seeded' (not that crap seedless Woolworths rubbish with no taste).
Might try Dragon Fruit now.

It's expensive in the shop, but very easy to grow. Get the one with dark red flesh.
