This is expressed in section 92 of the Constitution, which states that “trade, commerce, and intercourse among the states … shall be absolutely free”.

Trade and commerce has continued, intercourse is allowed but I doubt you get any of that beyond the social intercourse we are sharing right here. What state are you in?

Recall Qld relies heavily on tourism and trade with other states and so it would be self destructive to close its borders as it is doing now and crippling its own people.

One really wishes that the public would recognize that this is not just about tourism.

The knock on effects will impact the hospitality industry, the primary producers selling to the hotels and restaurants, the company that delivers that produce, the middle man in the chain.

Then what of the shop fitters and sparkies and plumbers that service those closed and bankrupt businesses.

What of the landlord that puts a roof over the heads of those young folk working casual hours in the industry.

Landlord should not imply that there is no mortgage on that property reliant on the income.

This is a big circle, with a lot involved. All will hurt, some will ultimately lose, but that, to her calculation, will not be Anna.

An untrained amateur's simplistic reading of 92 is fraught with the errors of innocence.

It is actually a nightmare for courts as patriotic Pauline well knows and would probably go for a year or more but she knows the Qld election will happen before that and that is why she is stirring the pot for political gain.

Is that coming from a constitutional lawyer such as yourself, Juliar?

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

Oh BH shall we dance and go round and round to the music. The cartoon means whatever you want it to mean.

I won't bite on your bait.

Setanta, if you read the article from the Australian you will know all.

BH you must have misread it as you do tend to confuse things - particularly anything technical or scientific.

Did you know that the Ukranian Mrs PallaChook and the 45th Premier of NSW are also having a blue over the border ?

https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/nsw-tells-queensland-to-reopen-bor...

And now Clive Palmer is joining Patriotic Pauline in a High Court challenge to Qld border closures.

https://www.9news.com.au/national/clive-palmer-adds-queensland-to-wa-high-court-...

And now like Anal's chance of ever being elected Qld's justification for border closures is slowly crumbling.

Nailed it.

The Constitution mandates cost-free trade of goods and services across state borders.

It does not, however, mandate free travel of people across state borders. If it did, the police would not need to apply to extradite alleged criminals who cross state borders. They would just chase them across state borders without any restriction.

Also my reading of it seems to be that Pauline is like the lawyer from the Castle. Way in above his head an dno smacking idea what hes doing

Pauline and now Clive are gunning for Mrs PallyChook.

But they don't give a damn whether their High Court case wins or not as they know that the Qld election will occur before the agonizingly slow High Court case gets anywhere as S 92 cases disappear into the ether as S 92 is so vague in practice.

Both Pauline and Clive are stirring the political pot to try to get Mrs PallaChook shoved off the nest in the Qld election.

Now you'all know.
