So tell us how they measured global temperature to within 1/100th of a degree in 1880. Grin Grin Grin Grin

And don't forget Phil Jones CRU admitted SST's for the southern hemisphere were mostly made up even up to the 1950's. So how accurate were they? Grin Grin Grin Grin

It's not only that - I tried to explain this to Monk
but he doesn't understand.
The thermometers were placed in the country areas
50 or 100 years ago and now the same location is
part of an urban heat island covered in concrete -
of course you would measure hotter temperatures.
The argument boils down to whether we can actually
detect a genuine 1 degree rise in the last 100 years.

The days are hotter, the nights are colder
and everyone wants just 'one' right answer.

Thats right, human's are already changing the climate in built up areas. It's quite amusing when youtube deniers actually use human induced climate change to try and discredit human induced climate change  Grin

Of course, historically, conditions change around thermometer locations. That's the whole reason for homogenisation. to allow for those changes but of course then the youtube deniers accuse the weather bureaus of changing the figures. So once again we can't win either way.

In the end the youtube deniers aren't actually interested in the truth, they are only interested in trying to discredit, obfuscate and confuse.

I can guarantee you that it won't be long before lee the stalker appears and does just that.

Hi Barny,
even the way we measure temperature could be different.
It supposed to be in the shade but I believe that
the definition of shade could have changed as
what size box do they put the thermometer inside?
What is the air ventilation like?
Has that changed in the last 100 years?

Stevenson screens only became a standard by 1910 in Australia, before that the thermometer records are unreliable.

So they move the thermometers a number of metres in Marble Bar but adjust for variations in temperature 100's of kilometres away? Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

"In fact, the weather station at Marble Bar has always been just to the southeast of the town centre, on vacant public land on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, which covers an area of about 284,993 km˛. There is no documentation for any move in 1944. In 1967 the weather station was apparently moved some metres. The distance is recorded as ‘small’ in the relevant catalogue.

The Bureau nevertheless identified weather stations at Mundiwindi (about 300 kms south), Wiluna (about 700 km south) and Roebourne (about 300 km east) as neighbouring stations suitable for comparison, specifically for fixing the perceived ‘discontinuity’ in 1944 created by the apparent station move. Exactly how do you change records from 80 or more years ago? Jump in your time machine?

And they changed the size of the Stevenson Screens when they changed to digital thermometers. The new boxes are smaller and warmer. Wink

The BOM says it's been a warm Autumn but -

If you are in New South Wales, Victoria or Tasmania, though, you do have reason to moan — your mean temperatures were below average, although still only the 49th, 48th and 56th coldest on record since 1910.

NSW's days were particularly cold at 0.88 degrees Celsius below average, the 16th coldest average maximum temperature on record for the state.

Winter arrives on NSW Mid North Coast as first snow of the season hoped to entice much-needed tourists

Right on cue for the start of winter, the first snow of the season, has fallen on the Barrington Tops on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.

James Fleming and his son Brayden from Taree, camped out overnight to catch a glimpse, which came just one day earlier than last year.

"[It's] always a magical experience to see the snow coming down," he said.

"It's become a tradition to see the first snow fall."

Snow draws them to the Tops

Newly branded tourism region, the Barrington Coast, shared a Facebook post about the possibility of snow coming, which MidCoast Council's Deb Tuckerman said reached about 100,000 people.
