From the link theres a twitter feed with the video.

Its road rage. The smoking up is coming from the car behind pushing the car in front.

Your definition of a burnout must be different from mine

Mine is 1 car, no one else around smoking up the tyres.

What I see in this is the white VW being pushed from behind by the red Mitsubishi. The white VW has his brakes on to try and not be pushed.

The Mitsubishi is trying so hard to get the VW moved hes having to spin the tyres.

More than likely, the SMH article mentioned its very busy, so my theory of events is this. Theres been a rear end bingle, where the Mitsu van ran up the back of the VW, the guy in the Mitsu got road rage (helped by ice maybe) and starts to ram up the back of the VW to push him, then the VWs steered out of the way and with his foot on the accelerator the Mitsu guy had no ability to swerve and just went straight into the shop.

I showed my mechanic hubby that video, I said, it looks like a burnout but wheel isn’t moving.
He said the other wheel is spinning.
I asked how can that be, one wheel only ?

He said, if the car has an open diff, only one wheel can spin.
If it has a limited slip diff then both wheels would spin.

It's hard to tell on video if a spoked wheel is spinning because of the frame rate.

Whenever I hear that word I think of a headline a newspaper ran some years back.

A cricketer had just started going out with Laura Bingle - Michael Clarke, maybe (?).

Anyway, let's say that was his name.

He was involved in a car accident, and the headline in the paper was something like:

"Clarke gets into bingle on the weekend".

Classy journalism.

It certainly was bizarre.

Was the idiot doing the burnout shoving having a "medical episode"?

Apparently the idiot was a Muslim, that would explain things.

A Muslim throwing a wheelie - lot control... explains it all...

The latest is that he 'suffered a medical episode'... more like an ongoing mental episode... he has 'form' for this kind of ridiculous road rage..

He's still holding down a spot in the slammer... and deserves it.  Reckless driving endangering life - probably intimidating driving - attempted murder ... who rams the back of a car in front at an intersection and then hits the accelerator and tries to push it into traffic?  ...pretty serious.. twelve counts on the injuries, is it?

He said, if the car has an open diff, only one wheel can spin.
If it has a limited slip diff then both wheels would spin.

A new twist on the Musso Third Party Scam?  Sounds a bit dangerous... the first reports I saw said nobody had life-threatening injuries etc - now watch the wheel-chairs and walkers and sleepless nights come out.

apparently 635 men, women and children have come forward as injured in the crash.

26 of which only arrived in Sydney 2 days ago.

The grubberment authorities acknowledge their claims on the basis of "cultural" and have decided not to contest the 4 million dollars each is claiming.

A grubberment spokesman Mr Achmed stated, through an interpreter.
"We must acknowledge the needs of this diverse and damaged community, any muzzo injured both physically and mentally must be compensated."

They expect more claims as muzzos around Australia see footage and feel "culturally" offended and traumatised.

NRMA CTP Insurance and Charity  spokesman , I M Loaded, said that anyone within 500 metres would be given a few grand no questions asked.   TV viewers who couldn't sleep can claim at NRMA soup-kitchens with give-away sleeping pills and hotwater bottle , any colour , including olive.
NRMA - your inclusive soft touch. Yes , more often.
