The whole world has ground to a Halt fighting off this terrible infectious disease

Is this rational

Do we behave similarly around other infectious diseases

When any Plague comes to town like a whispering death on the mists rolling in.
Everyone locked themselves away.
Those that had the Plague, were locked away.
One Plague, the 'vaccine' was just a wash and burn the old clothes. Worked a miracle.

Sadly for Australia & NZ/Pacific Islands... the rest of the world didn't join the effort and now eventually 'we' have to become 'infected' after all that hard work (not going to work) - because we can't stay 'closed' and isolated from the world forever. Soon, we'll have to play 'Ring a ring a Rosie'.

We would be like Sweden

About to emerge into a bright and flourishing future

Instead we have had 6000 cases
So that leaves 24 million 994000 people
To go.

This should result in a second 3rd 4th 5th 6th up to 100 wave
We can just have wave after wave after wave

Whilst sensible countries like Sweden return to business as usual
We can return to lockdown as usual

People will eventually get sick and tired of that sort of mediocre existence
anyone with any sort of vision for the future will

Australia's method of isolating the Virus is a good and effective one, but 'everyone' (nation) has to play too.

But in the end, when the Virus comes back and it will (from other nations and people coming here). Australians must learn how to SURF each WAVE and ride it to the shore.

The year is 2021 and the whole world is 'infected'.
Australia's fresh air and lack of pollution seem to have 'less effect' of severe symptoms with one of the lowest death rates.
Crowd clusters in Australia are minimal, so the Virus can't work up steam like a coal fed fire.

Sprint that would be true if we emerged from this lockdown in better shape than we started

We haven't

Virtually no one has been infected so it is as if we are back to square one

The virus is impossible to eradicate so it will just create the next wave

I can't see a treatment or a vaccine coming for a long time
And the vaccine will probably be less effective than the flu vaccine
Which is under 60% effective
We still get a flu epidemic every year
This thing is 4X as contagious as the flu

So you can virtually guarantee
Even if we get a good vaccine next year
Covid-19 returning year after year after year

We have to learn to live with it
If there was any logic to stay in lockdown for longer
I'm really keen to hear what it is

Our economy is in much worse shape than late last year.
It will take years to recover.
I cannot see a vaccine for some time and believe now is a good time to emerge and restart our lives.

We are well armed now and have bought time.
With the covid safe app, physical distancing, good regular hand washing, not touching face we can win.

It has cost us a lot financially and little in lives lost.
This is a pandemic, it will damage us all in some ways.
At some stage money becomes just another figure on a computer screen.

Some recent testing in New York sprint shows that perhaps 30 to 40% of the population are now showing antibodies and have had it
Many of them a symptomatic

So if your parents were in New York
Where the virus had infected more people
Without overwhelming the hospital system one must add

Then your parents would be safer in a city where there had been more exposure
As more of the people they were meeting in their day-to-day contacts
We're already immune

Currently your parents are him just as much risk as they were in January
If we don't get a good vaccine and we probably won't
Then your parents will be at risk indefinitely
The only thing that reduces that risk somewhat
Is if the rest of the population have had the disease and now have antibodies

It's ironic that the reward for our success
Is ultimately now the thing that will probably lead to our failure

Again if there is no good vaccine
And no treatment

The options are to accept the risk
Or to remain lockdown forever

The option of John Smith virtue signalling
Is a fake option and really quite disgraceful and dishonest

Chinese Australians don't like this 'social distancing'. Makes them agoraphobic and they usually become distressed if someone else is not shoved tight next to them in an elevator.

ahhhhhhh SWEDEN...

Bjorn Branngard's mother died in a Stockholm nursing home where five of the eight people in her section and more than a third of residents have so far succumbed to the new coronavirus.

"They didn't have time to take care of my mother," he told AFP.

Her coronavirus test came back negative two days after her death, but Branngard, who claims she died of neglect, says the nursing home staff lacked protective gear and were spreading the virus around the home.

Sweden, whose softer approach to the coronavirus has garnered international attention, admits it has failed to adequately protect the elderly, with around half of COVID-19 deaths occurring among nursing home residents.

Reports have flooded Swedish media in recent weeks of care home staff continuing to work despite a lack of protective gear.

Others have refused to work and workers are encouraged to stay home even with mild symptoms, leaving homes short-staffed.

Other personnel have admitted going to work despite exhibiting symptoms of the virus, potentially infecting residents, while some elderly have reportedly been infected while admitted to hospital for other treatments and then sent back to care homes where they unwittingly spread the disease.

Sweden has reported 3,220 deaths from the virus as of Saturday.

I immediately chopped down my mango tree

There was a massive panic after the initial hendra infections
Followed by a rushed vaccine

There is now an enormous class action against the vaccine maker
from hundreds of people who claim their horses were damaged by the vaccine

let's see how our efforts with a rushed covit vaccine pan out  Huh Roll Eyes

Dear Aqua,
consider that you might owe your very own life to the lockdown.
Now consider other people.
https://coronaboard.com/

The Yanks didn't take it seriously and now
they have 81,795 deaths.
Only 3,000 people died on 9/11.

Australia has so far done quite well -
only 97 deaths.

Look at the POMS  32,065 deaths!

So horseboy is sick of peddling the same old crap in the Coronavirus forum so he has started peddling it in the General Forum.

How many times does he need to be told? He's as bad as Bobby, just sticking his fingers in his ears and repeating the same old thing over and over again.
Look at what happened to New York, Italy, Spain, UK and look at what is happening to Brazil. Hospitals and Morgues completely overloaded.
That's why we have needed lockdowns and that is why basically every country has gone into a lockdown, even Sweden has been in a partial lockdown.

You just defeated your whole argument.

ATSI people were listed as very cov19 vunerable ... all ages.

Why then were they allowed to have gatherings e.g. funerals that were allowed 8 times the number for anyone else? Yes 80 people.

Dear Aqua,
consider that you might owe your very own life to the lockdown.

thanks for confirming my point about this being equivalent to the flu

According to an estimate by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were approximately 45 million cases of the flu in the United States during the 2017-2018 influenza season, resulting in an estimated 810,000 flu-associated hospitalizations and an estimated 61,000 flu-associated deaths

Ok, here is some perspective

2017/2018 flu season has been cherry picked because it was a really bad season. A flu season will result in between 20,000 to 60,000 deaths in the USA (with 60,000 being a very bad season).

The Covid-19 death toll in the USA is now 83,000
That's in just 10 weeks
That's DESPITE a nationwide lockdown
There are still 1,500 people a day dying

But since you've been spamming this forum with your expert medical knowledge that is so much better than those who have studied it their entire lives. Here is a certificate for you

No smallpox
No typhoid
No influenza
Not so much as a "common cold"
Diabetes was a rarity
Alcoholism was non-existent
As was drug addiction

I'd hazard a guess that "happiness scale" levels were higher

Your guess is just that ... a guess.

Their lives were hard/harsh.
