.. and here I was trying to discuss water trading as some sort of market, when it's a natural event that should be utilised by a nation for its own benefit..... and it seems I missed the Big Show again.... we're all here to slag one another... not discuss the theft of water or national independence or trade wars or the false paradigm of 'private enterprise' that is destroying this once proud nation or sovereign rights of people and nation or the craven indifference of paid-off politicians......

**chews popcorn - heads to fridge for another beer - at least a beer never argues back or talks rubbish**

I've served this nation - in more than one category.... but I don't make a big deal out of it... that's simply not done, old boys.

Where did you steal that beer from?  Did the water get there from an Irishman , Scotsman or Kiwi?

Ugh.. Here you go again Brian, your first sentence starts fine and then you sink in some of the same stuff you pay out on. Why do you like to pay out on your fellow Australians? Why do you so enjoy playing in the mud you accuse others of enjoying so much?

Why aren't you asking Soren the same questions, Set?  He is the one transgressing the rules of the forum.  I thought you were a moderator?

I get mine through the Muslim Underground Railway... the one where they smuggle beers out of the Deep South and free them from slavery... and they don't touch one drop along the way ..bit abstruse that but hell..I believe the Toohey brothers were Irish.. and the Guinness now... or its colonial shadow.... Undecided

It's right about Irish Tooheys,  brewing Tooheys Black Old Ale in a brewery in the area of present-day Darling Harbour. Old Black Ali drove wagon-loads of water to Chinatown where the triad wharfie gangs diluted it , stole the barley and sold Corona to the tax office.

Still got that tinny taste.  Gee, that's what your posts remind me of.  Canned beer.   Never got the taste for it, it always tasted tinny to me.  Two cans per man, per day, perhaps.  I always traded mine.  Made me real popular amongst the drinkers.   Wink

The tinny taste disappeared nearly 40 years ago when they stopped canning it in steel & used aluminium.

When you travel & camp & take all you need ... cans are lighter, don't smash & easier to dispose of .....

everyone collects the empties now.

Brown Glass is the best for Beer. Green Glass is only slightly less, but both preserve the beer's quality a lot longer than Tin Cans. I've been given a 'slab payment' for something done.
It had definitely been over-dated and gone off. Melbourne Bitter it was and realising I had been 'under-paid' - it left a metallic turned taste in my mouth.  Tongue

Beer is the dumb man's drink. Alpha Males drink Spirits and Wines. I've seen one Spirit slap a man down to the cement after just 3 nips of a glass within 15 minutes.

Copper is the best 'preservative' for any type of Alcohol.
But I can't see mass-production of Copper Cans or bigger for the likes of Beer though.

I still think New Zealand brew the best Beers overall consistently. The 'cleaner' the water, the better quality of Beer. Hence why the VB tastes like the Yarra with all that Melbournian city input.

I don't agree ... you can still taste a slight difference when it's out of a can. It's much more noticable if you drink directly from the can. Pouring it into a glass helps a lot

Don't even think about how many times Chinese water is re-cycled as it moves down through Yangtse River cities sewage systems.

Except to connoisseurs.  Appears your sense of taste is in your boots, Gnads, like so much else about you.  I can taste the "tinny taste" even now.

I gave up camping when I resigned from the Army.  Five stars for me, only.  I expect the establishment I am staying at to have bottled beer or beer on tap.  Roll Eyes

Brian stands up for the Aboriginal - they're Australian.
Fair suck of the sav Frank.

Er... they are not, actually.

Australia is a European designation. What did Aborigines call themselves before 1788? Not Australians.

So they are not even entitled to be called Australian in your view?
I don't think you're Australian enough yourself Frank (sounds french) to make that pedantic point.

The once that constantly belly-ache about Sorry days don't. They are rejecting the very idea of Australia - a European invention and a British project.

They are yearning for the pre-Australia days, or so they say - yet want all the benefits that post-1788 Australia can give them. If they were really serious about anti-colonialism and invasion, they would proudly retreat to their pre-1788 hunter-gatherer ways and demand a restoration of that life to them.

They are not doing that.  They want benefits for VB and Toyotas.

The tinny taste changed from steel to aluminium, i quickly adapted to the new flavor, the 750ml cans of Fosters will always be sadly missed, a cold tinny straight down the neck is very refreshing and good on the palate.

There are many advantages of canned beer over glass.

A warm beer thrown into an ice slurry gets colder quicker and takes up less room than glass.
