'Early childhood masturbation'

WHO says kids under 4 should be taught 'early childhood masturbation'

The World Health Organization is once again facing increased scrutiny and outrage.

The renewed public outcry is not, however, directed at the shoddy initial response to the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic, instead coming as a result of unsettling details recently discovered in the organization's child and adolescent sexual education guidelines.

Set forth by global health experts as the baseline curricular "standards" for European educators, the guidelines advocate exposure of public school students in every age group to information regarding safe sexual behavior, homosexuality, "gender identity" and masturbation.

Even children under the age of 4 are specifically prescribed such education under the WHO's standards, with "human reproduction (where babies come from)" and "early childhood masturbation" among the suggested lessons for this age group.

The discovery has not been met kindly by Christian organizations and culturally conservative commentators, many of whom suggest the United Nations-run organization's standards will only encourage early, and unhealthy, sexual behaviors among children and adolescents.

TRENDING: Fox News report: 'Schiff is in panic mode' as transcripts absolve Trump of collusion

The Christian Institute last month went to battle with Warwickshire County in the United Kingdom over attempts to implement the guidelines in its local curriculum.

The organization eventually broke the county of its new curriculum with a "legal threat," publicly arguing that "children should not be exposed to material which sexualises them."

No such concerns, however, seem to exist at the Collaborating Centre for Sexual and Reproductive Health, which holds on its website that "a positive interpretation of sexuality" must be fostered from the earliest possible age in order to improve sexual health outcomes throughout the developmental cycle.

"Holistic sexuality education gives children and young people unbiased, scientifically correct information on all aspects of sexuality and, at the same time, helps them to develop the skills to act upon this information," the center wrote. "It hence prevents sexual ill health and ... supports children in getting aware of their own limits and in being able to communicate these, supports children and young people to make self-determined and respectful choices."

This is apparently carried out in the organization's model by encouraging educators to develop in students ages 4 and under the ability to "express [one's] own needs, wishes and boundaries, for example in the context of 'playing doctor'" and foster "curiosity regarding [one's] own and others' bodies."

As the model progresses, students ages 4 through 12 are more rapidly exposed to an expanded list of concepts including "sexual rights," the ability to "influence" one's fertility and the "right" to "explore" one's gender.

Discussions of the "first sexual experience" are also suggested early on in the curriculum.

The Christian Institute was not the only conservative organization or commentator to target the WHO for its sexual education policy.

Matt Walsh at The Daily Wire also called out the "horrifying" guidelines in an Op-Ed late last week, arguing the WHO's plans to provide comprehensive sexual education to toddlers and elementary school-age students across Europe was reason enough to entirely defund the organization.

The WHO has faced no shortage of controversy in recent months, embattled as a result of increased scrutiny stemming from the organization's handling of the coronavirus pandemic and alleged favoritism toward China.

President Donald Trump in April halted U.S. funding of the institution, accusing it of "severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus," according to Politico.

There are good on the ground health workers in the WHO but the management needs to be flushed.

Check this out.

Forewarned is forearmed.

That aside kids learn at their own pace, I have no probs with that, they don't need to be "taught".

Hard to say, Aussie. Maybe it has to do with those members who specialise in the manual deployment of tools.

Just doing some research, it seems early childhood masturbation is not uncommon.

The New York Times:

Quote:
Debby Herbenick, a professor at the Indiana University School of Public Health, who has conducted research studies related to child and adolescent sexual expression...If you look at reports from day care providers and parents, Dr. Herbenick said, it is very common to see observations of toddlers touching their own genitals or playing games with their peers that involve some touching. Those reports decrease markedly in slightly older children, she said, from the “older 4s” on up.

“Kids go underground,” Dr. Herbenick said; in studies in which college students are asked to recollect sexual behavior from childhood and adolescence, there are lots of recollections of that behavior from 5 to 9. They’re still doing it, but they have learned to keep it private.

Why Is Children’s Masturbation Such a Secret?

From the annals of Saudi medicine

Quote:
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES:
Few studies have explored the hormonal triggers for masturbation in infants and young children. Thus, we aimed to study the sex hormones and clinical profiles of masturbating infants and young children.

METHODS:
This case-control study involved infants and young children who masturbate and were referred to three pediatric neurology clinics between September 2004 and 2006 (n=13), and a similar control group. All children underwent basic laboratory investigations prior to referral. Other tests included electroencephalography (n=8) and brain neuroimaging (n=9). We measured dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, free testosterone, estradiol, dehydroepiandrosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and androstenedione in all participants.

RESULT:
The median age at the first incident was 19.5 months (range, 4-36 months); the median masturbation frequency, 4 times/day; and the median duration of each event, 3.9 min. The subjects masturbated in both prone (n=10) and supine positions (n=3); two subjects used the knee-chest position. All subjects showed facial flushing; 6, friction between the thighs; 5, sweating; 9, sleeping after the event; and 12, disturbance on interruption. EEG was abnormal in one of eight subjects tested, and neuroimages were normal in all of nine subjects examined. The case and control groups had comparable levels of all sex hormones, except estradiol, which showed significantly lower levels in the case group (P=.02).

CONCLUSION:
Masturbation in children seems to be associated with reduced estradiol levels, but not with other sex hormones. Further studies are needed to confirm our findings

Infantile and early childhood masturbation: Sex hormones and clinical profile

Summit Medical Group

Quote:
WHY DOES MY CHILD MASTURBATE?

Occasional masturbation is a normal behavior of many toddlers and preschoolers. Up to a third of children in this age group discover masturbation while exploring their bodies. Often they continue to masturbate simply because it feels good. Some children masturbate frequently because they are unhappy about something, such as having their pacifier taken away. Others are reacting to punishment or pressure to stop masturbation completely.

Masturbation has no medical causes. Irritation in the genital area causes pain or itching; it does not cause masturbation.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Once your child discovers masturbation, he or she will seldom stop doing it completely. Your child may not do it as often if any associated power struggles or unhappiness are remedied. By age 5 or 6, most children can learn some discretion and will masturbate only in private. Masturbation becomes almost universal at puberty in response to the normal surges in hormones and sexual drive.

WILL MASTURBATION CAUSE PROBLEMS LATER IN LIFE?

Masturbation does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body. It is not abnormal or excessive unless it is deliberately done in public places after age 5 or 6. It does not mean your child will be oversexed, promiscuous, or sexually deviant. Only if adults overreact to a child's masturbation and make it seem dirty or wicked will it cause emotional harm, such as guilt and sexual hangups.

MASTURBATION IN PRESCHOOLERS

The list goes on.

There is more research but the main takeaway seems to be that masturbation is common in young children and more often than not it is not sexual.

So Raven will say that it is perfectly fine to discuss masturbation with your child. It is a parent's responsibility to ground their children and to know what is going on with them. If your child has found their penis or vagina, have a sit down with them. DO NOT get angry with them or make them ashamed of their actions.

I'm not dismissing the story entirely, but is this another of those fringe right wing news aggregator sites who then post their biased opinions as if they're facts.

They have an agenda against the WHO because Trump says they're the enemy, so without looking into this further I would hazard a guess that their claims need investigating.

WorldNetDaily is considered another of the sites that have been described as "fringe" and far right as well as politically conservative.

Red flags galore.

Do they even list what the guidelines are?

The article is leading one to believe that they're teaching kids how to do it, whereas it could be if you're asked questions about it what do you do etc.

I know that's not as enticing to Trumptards but an important distinction that the site seems to have made without any basis for doing so other than the narrative they're pushing.
