Yes.

sprint, what i think will happen is that they will HAVE to get things going again,
but it wont be business as usual.

probably temperature scanning before entering a workplace. school or child care centre

probably mandatory testing to be done monthly for people in certain roles.

probably lockdowns of individual suburbs when cases are clustered.

proably no big sporting events , no concerts, no big parties or weddings until there is a vaccine (maybe 2 years).

probably very little international travel.

probably a mandatory requirement to wear a mask in public.

probably resturants re opened with 1/2 seating capacity

probably beaches re opened with just the social distancing rules in place.

probably tracking devices on all people who test positive.

a new normal.

2 things.

people wont/cant/shouldnt be expected to cope with strict lockdown after the end of april.

we are going to have to just monitor the hospitals and then adjust the level of restrictions to match that.

currently, we have been "too' successful and the hospitals are empty.
there is no point just aiming for perfection when it is impossible.
we should ease, let the virus burn in a controlled way.
it will provide us with data and allow us to course correct and learn.

we will NOT eliminate this disease.

hell, evem whooping cough and hepatits a and b for which we have very very high levels of vaccination and immunity STILL present with new cases and we have NO immunity to this and it is super contagious.

so  we need to chill, trust in our health system

live life as normally as possible
hit the beach and the gym and visit friends.
everyone who can work safely needs to do so.

and dont be believing in fairytales like a vaccine that works and is rolled out in 2020.
it wont be happening.

That's your personal history and psyche. You obsess about regime change affecting 1/5 of world population and a regime which includes , in your view, any who question your logic.  This mind-set drove all those dictators who you condemn.

If you google - coronavirus new cases - you get an interesting plot of the number of new cases each day. In Australia this has been going down since the end of March. This puts us well ahead of most other countries. China is also going down, but I expect that is because they gave up testing. Most other countries are still going up, or just flattening.

Does this mean we can start easing off the sillier restrictions soon?

What are some of the "sillier" restrictions?

Allow cafes and restaurants to serve food.
Maintain a 2M physical distance.
Open beaches and forests

Keep pressing home the physical distancing and hygiene

I am suggesting we not throw common sense to the wind. The whole beach thing is based on misleading photos being pushed by clickbait 'journalism'.

Docs say to take all antibiotics pills even after you recover.  There's a reason , same as watching burning stumps after a bushfire has stopped.

well there you go  your commonsense and mine seem to go in differing directions fd...

to me it makes sense clearing the beaches where everyone is in another place they are not thinking about safety and distance  children frolicking .. someone needing to be saved  given cpr....be practical fd...people do the wrong thing all the time........

someone gets moved from a park bench.......people cant see that is not exercising  which you are allowed to do.....

if you are a jogger walker sprinter you do not need a park bench to sit on...

fd you can sit in your back yard    even buy some sand to sit in if you miss that.....give it a try and stop whingeing thats a good boy.

The problem is Chimera, that we can't keep these restrictions in for 2 years. People simply won't accept it.
As surprised as I am  to admit it, Aquascoots last post (reply #45) is spot on and a sensible way forward
