Well FD.
How about we run this Country 'Castro' style.
We knock our Political empowerment down a few notches and become Communist (Egalitarian-like Wink) but raise our Medical empowerment up to give our people an extra 20-30 years longer (than the USA average) life from a 'Stress Free' country and good Health?

The West has a 'subordinated' Medical Industry in the face of the empowerment of Politics. This is the best you get
"Wash your hands and stay at home."
- the typical life of a subordinate Health Worker afraid of catching germs from people.
This is the life a lot of them live - some because they have to... working in Operating Theatres where the chance of infection can be high if performed in a busy shopping mall.

You don't like it the way it is? Well would you prefer New Zealand's style next door in Big Brother Oceania?
Maybe the other side with South Africa? Can you imagine what it would be like to do the Australian style in South Africa? Do you think those hordes of clicking Xhosians are going to 'stay home'? Hunger will drive them out.

...and it's Hunger that will make you drive out and disobey the laws.

Yes. I am all out of Spanish Mackerel. I had to resort to buying Barramundi for $10/kg on the weekend.

watch the cigateura

Barra don't have it

& Spanish Mackrel are not caught commercially in the highest ciguatera incidence zone of Platypus Bay(Hervey Bay) -

https://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/view/whole/html/asmade/sl-2019-0076

Quote:
53
Taking or possessing particular fish—Platypus Bay

A person must not in the Platypus Bay regulated waters—
(a)take any of the following fish for trade or commerce—
(i)catfish of the family Ariidae;
(ii)cobia;
(iii)giant queenfish;
(iv)great barracuda;
(v)spanish mackerel;
(vi)pickhandle barracuda;
(vii)yellowtail kingfish; or
(b)possess a fish taken in contravention of paragraph (a).

Most of these are because of Ciguatera.

Even stinking catfish are on the list  Grin

It's been in effect for a long long time. Yet you can get ciguatera anywhere along the NSW/QLD coasts from several different known good eating species including Coral Trout.
http://www.fishandboat.com.au/articles/item/38-ciguatera-hidden-toxin

I've eaten Spanish from other areas further north no dramas.

But you can never tell.

The farmed rubbish?

No idea. From coles. Was off an enourmous fish. The staff bought most of it. Some kind of shenanigans. I've heard the wholesale price has crashed, but not the retail.

Yeah - typical ey?

Could be Nile Perch ...... they often use it & call it Barra.

Same family & genus as Barra ... different species.

Barra  - L. calcarifer  / Nile - L. niloticus

Barra have fresh & salt water phases in their lives .... saltwater the best eating.

Nile are completely freshwater water(Africa).

It's quite OK to eat.

Much better an import than that hormone fed shitpond grown Vietnamese catfish rubbish they call BASA ........

that so many stupid Australians buy.

not the tigers though.
but still excellent bait
goof live bait for GT's

Fancy wasting prawns on GT's .... you can eat prawns you can't eat GT's. Like most Trevalley
they have darker meat that tastes ordinary to shyte. (The only Trevally usable as an eating fish are Golden Trevalley ... is that what you meant by GT?)

If you want to sport fish Giant Tevalley bastards & waste your energy you should use popper lures.

Commercial fisho I take it?
Or Asian...that's right snowflakes out there..I said Asian. Those mongrels have decimated our marine life in Moreton bay. They eat everything, and take everything.   Angry

Rec fisho's can only have 10ltrs of prawns max per person and 20ltrs max per boat with 2 or more people on board.
They measure prawn bag limits in litres.

Yeah the Asians got around those limits by putting a mothership out in Moreton Bay .... had 4 or 5 tinnies with 2 people on board in yellow raincoats & cast nets .....

caught their 10 litres each took it back to mothership to unload ... then went again.

Until they got sprung. Angry

Remember the local pros taking the law into their own hands & burning the first Vietnamese owned trawler in Breakfast Creek. Grin

They wouldn't follow the unwritten rules about not flogging the same area over & over ..... & just kept at it.

Asian sea bass are also good.

It was sold as sea or salt water barramundi. Did not taste like freshwater fish. I have never eaten one I would rate as 'good'. However it did have a thin layer of translucent fat under the skin which I have only ever seen before on yellowbelly.

Latest news 3AW.
It's now illegal to go fishing even though you're by yourself and so can't transmit the virus to anyone else.

You're assuming that you'll be the only person going fishing.

Think, Bobby.  Think.

You're probably not allowed within 1.5 mtrs of the fish, so you'll need to cut the line before it reaches the shore/boat/jetty.

Asian Sea Bass is Barramundi - same fish.

they can be found throughout SE Asia to the Indian sub-continent.

Most of the imported barra is from Vietnam ..... and it's farmed in freshwater.

You can tell farmed barra .... it is a lot darker skinned & fins are nearly black.

I don't like the taste of freshwater barra ... even wild caught from floodplain billabongs or man made impoundments.

Australian farmed barra is equally bleeeeh.

Wild caught saltwater barra is very silvery & the best eating.

There are plenty of other saltwater fish that taste better than Barra.

But is that really essential?

No recreation fishermen relies on fishing for daily subsistence.

What has happened in QLD is your state Transport Minister has muddied the waters over the restriction rules & boaties thinks it's ok to go out fishing.

Not thinking that people numbers at boat ramps will see more people than necessary in one place for launching & retrieving.

That Volunteer Marine Rescue Services have shut down or have next to no monitoring...... leaving boaties at risk if they have any problems on the water ..... & risk spreading contagion if they have to be rescued.

Going fishing for amateurs is NOT ESSENTIAL.

It's selfish & indulgent to the whiney bastards who only care about themselves.

STAY THE F*#K HOME.
