Asylum Seekers are guaranteed under International Law and Domestic laws the right to entry to apply for Refugee status. This is according to the UN Convention on Refugees and the domestic laws that stem from a nation's signature and ratification of the Convention.

The issue of "legal" versus "illegal" only occurs for those people who aren't claiming asylum or those nations that refuse to recognise their obligations under the Convention (if they are a signatory). Roll Eyes

They should claim asylum in Turkey or wherever the first safe country is they can enter. Country shopping is not the intention of the refugee convention.
