Apparently John, NBN own all the copper and the infrastructure. All residences need a unique ID to allow NBN to keep track of its connections. Nothing can happen until NBN assign that number. I estimate the actual job itself would take an hour to do. The old Telstra pit is right in front of the property, the conduit has been done and the customer lead in is there. But nothing will happen until NBN assign the number, and that could take 6 months

it's frustrating as hell when there is a simple fix but bureaucracy gets in the way

Just ask NBN for a quote. When you get the quote you might realize why Australia could not afford Labor's badly designed NeverBuiltNetwork.
