"The total number of extreme-right incidents has risen 320% in the past five years, with 71 countries having suffered at least one terrorism-related death in 38 attacks recorded in 2018, compared to only nine in 2013."

Indeed.

Unfortunately though, the right-wing terrorists are killing more and more people.

"Eyewitnesses recalled the Wednesday night’s horrendous terror attack in Germany’s western town of Hanau -- where a far-right extremist killed at least nine people."

On average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner.

Making excuses for him Cods?

Of course they are all on drugs & have mental issues.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

This bloke was already on a "counter terror" list.

The one shot dead on the 2nd Feb 2020 in London was just released from prison for terror related crime.

5th January 2020 ... fatal terror related stabbings in Paris.

there are many more ... & they are not RW extremists carrying them out.

Wanna make a bet?

“In 2018, far-right terrorist attacks accounted for 17.2% of terrorist incidents in the West.

"By contrast, attacks by Islamist groups accounted for 6.8% of attacks."

Far-right terrorism has more than tripled over last four years, report warns

"Despite the notable decrease in the level of Islamist terrorism in the West, Europe and especially North America are witnessing a dangerous rise in far-right terrorism, the 2019 GTI report, developed by the conflict watchdog of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP),  has found."

Is there a difference between a person with mental health issues going on a killing frenzy and a terrorist?

Or does the media use the term "terrorist" by default for shock value?

Terrorism remains a contested term, with no set definition for the concept or broad agreement among academic experts on its usage.

Bruce Hoffman of Georgetown University has defined terrorism as “violence—or equally important, the threat of violence—used and directed in pursuit of, or in service of, a political aim.”

Similarly, Louise Richardson of Oxford University believes terrorism is “deliberately and violently targeting civilians for political purposes.”

Under these definitions, if there is no political aim, it is simply a crime and, if there is no violence, it is not terrorism.

"The important issue in ascribing the impact, if any, of mental health in terrorism cases is in determining whether an individual knew right from wrong at the time they committed an offence.

In the case of the Lindt cafe siege gunman, Man Haron Monis, for example, as objectionable, narcissistic and even delusional as he was, the coroner found that: “He was not suffering from a diagnosable categorical psychiatric disorder that deprived him of the capacity to understand the nature of what he was doing.”

And even where individuals do have a mental health condition, it doesn’t mean they are not responsible for their actions.

In sentencing Ihsas Khan to decades in prison for carrying out the Minto knife attack in 2016, the sentencing judge said: “On any view of the evidence, the offender suffers from some form of mental illness … (but) the offender’s mental illness was not, in any way, causally connected to his offending.”
