Right at the beginning of the virus outbreak there was a warning of risk to Australia by the virus coming thu Indonesia.

To date there are no reported  cases of Coronavirus in Indonesia, yeah right! Sounds like the Indonesian health minister is all over it!

Over the weekend, Indonesia announced it would temporarily ban visitors from mainland China who had been there for 14 days.

But health minister Terawan Agus Putranto told citizens to relax, advising that they could avoid the disease by not working overtime.

“To prevent it is very easy as long as your immunity is good,” he said. “Don’t fret. Just enjoy and eat enough.”

There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Indonesia, although direct flights from Wuhan brought tourists to Bali in recent days.

Oh, goodie, so now we can 'compete' with Indonesians on $183 USD a month or $45.75 USD a week .... won't that be lovely?

What are they going to trade us?  I mean, their Globalist Rich will exploit workers there and then send us heaps of cheap goods... how many of those Globalist Rich are going to buy Australian made products in return?  It's a bit like buying submarines from Eurostania for $50Bn - what exactly is Eurostania going to purchase from us that equates to $50Bn?  Free trade, innit?

Are the French, for example, going to give Australia a contract for $50Bn to make cheese or wine  for them or build their ships????  Not as long as their arses point to the ground...

Greater Flying Fox/Giant Fruit Bat
Quote:
The large flying fox can be found in countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia. In Malaysia alone, 22,000 bats are legally hunted every year, and an unknown number are also illegally killed. In a prepared statement, Epstein said that this level of hunting "is unsustainable for the number of bats in the country and will decimate this ecologically important species."

https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/extinction-countdown/worlds-largest-bat-bei...

In Australia Fruit Bats carry Lyssa Virus & Hendra Virus...

http://conditions.health.qld.gov.au/HealthCondition/condition/14/217/10/australi...

http://conditions.health.qld.gov.au/HealthCondition/condition/14/217/363/hendra-...

These are also found in other species of bat as well.

Yet Asians keep eating them wholesale.

Mind ... they eat everything that moves & 3/4 of what doesn't.

Sometimes your ignorance is absolutely breathtaking. Some quick facts regarding current trade with Indonesia.

- Largest economy in SE Asia
- 16th largest in the world
- Our 13th largest export market
- $16.8 billion in exports, $1 billion in imports. Trade balance favours us considerably.

You serious?  All that cleared land has no input to any trade at all?  Then why do they do it?  National land security indicates that such clearance is designed to further the economic benefits for the nation - ergo - it is directly linked to trade.

Do they clear it all by fire - slash and burn - to create habitats for orang utans?

No. The bulk of GDP is in domestic consumption. Land clearing for palm oil production. We don't export that stuff so fukk all to do with our trade.

The Primate Archbishop of Goa also holds the titles of Primate of the East and Patriarch of the East Indies. The Catholic Church is the largest landowner in India and a conservative estimate of its holdings is $1.5 bn. plus (2009). Much of its land and wealth was appropriated from Hindu temples during colonial times.

What happens when they become self sufficient?

Quote:
Indonesia’s long-standing goal to reach self-sufficiency remains a top priority. Under President Joko Widodo, the country’s National Development Plan aims to boost the country’s farming capability, production and value added activities, while lessening commodity imports. Indonesia is heavily reliant on imports of grains (wheat), live cattle, meat, raw sugar, soya beans and others.

They only think that. Eventually they will learn about opportunity cost and the power of comparative advantage. At that point they will see that self sufficiency and absolute advantage is a backward step.

No, it only trades declining living standards for jobs. Why do you think people engage in trade rather than do everything themselves. Gnads can grow his own veggies, own and milk a cow, make his own clothes yadda yadda yadda and see if he's better off than working and buying the goods.

Yeee-usssh - but this is not the full and perfect picture... there is a point at which declining living standards and real income, especially in this fairyland 'global economy' create a situation wherein there are no living standards and no jobs... all fall down....

That time is coming fast.. it's that light at the end of that tunnel ... called a train..

Grin We actually share nothing in common with Indonesia.

Our Govt is secular ... theirs is not .. it's influenced heavily by Islam.

Our govt doesn't have any other foreign country of another racial group under it's colonial control
as Indonesia has been doing for 55 years with West Papua.

We don't have criminal capital punishment or religious capital punishment administered by religious police.

We don't eat cats, dogs, fruit bats or should I say everything that moves.

etc etc.

Part correct, but mainly Aussie’s love going there to drink! Wink

So my adventure about 3 years ago now, where I reluctantly was forced to go to Indonesia because my son’s partner wanted to get married over there  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

We were advised not to eat street food anywhere claiming to be chicken satay! Where we stayed in a resort the food was amazing, that’s a given.
We go out for drives to see places, and every time we returned, to a gated security, the guards would have these detectors and mirrors going the whole vehicle, before entering the grounds of our resort.
Bomb scare problems?

Often went for long walks, going to street markets where I love taking photos of the real people of Indonesia.
We had this little lovely friendly dog follow us. My friends said not to pat him in case he has a disease!
He looked fine to me, I gave him a snack I had in my bag.
I often think of that cutie and hope he lived.
He was a survivor, looking for tourists near the resorts as he waited in parks.
If we crossed the road, we looked to see what he would do, he hesitated, looked both ways, then crossed over to keep us company.

Yeah I’m a dog loving kind of person. Things like that make my day.

Anyway, their Bin Tang is not too bad and reasonably priced.
I loved our long hot walks in the streets with markets and little supermarket shops.

Went to the Monkey forest, they are very cheeky and hilarious!
Until one young one, on my way out, grabbed my long cardi I was wearing, and swung on it, everyone’s faces at the entry point went “whoa” my daughter had her hand over her mouth and went “Oh no! Mum!”  and then it bit my leg.
I dropped my mobile phone saying ouch loudly and running off!! You should’ve seen the Chinese tourists look of horror on their faces as they were coming in!
Lucky for me I had on long slacks and was bruised only and the skin wasn’t broken.
Always eventful my adventures!  Grin Roll Eyes

The roads are narrow, the traffic thick, our van driver twice with the side window had it bent when someone walked into it as we were driving along!!
I virtually cried out in shock (because I was in front passenger seat) but everyone else laughs.  Shocked

Then it happened again with a motorcyclists carrying a big load.
Not sure I would get used to this!

I’m thinking, I just want to get back home to Australia in one piece!!

Well I went, I saw, and not so fussed about going again.

My son and his wife and her family go back every year for their anniversary and always ask us to go but we don’t want to,
All they do is sit near the pool and beach areas and drink,
Just not my thing.
I hope they don’t consider going this year given the circumstances of not knowing if the c-virus is a concern there or not.

Where was that in Indonesia Lols?

Sound like Bali (Kuta) which we have visited a couple of times although dont think I want to go there again.

I remember one of those bloody monkeys trying to reach into my pocket, I took a swipe at it and horrified the onlookers.

Used to have happy hour down on the beach each day being fed those cheap beers.

It was Nusa Dua.

I think once was enough for me, I don't have to go back again to see what it's about.
Prefer to see other parts of the globe that I not seen yet.
BTW.....Redneck, what have you decided about the cruise?
My fave man, Chris Martensen says how Singapore has excellent medical care and hospitals etc.
I been there, and it's an amazing place, very clean, all shopping underground including the train system.
Almost like Canberra, very sterile with tall buildings only, very business like, as you drive down the main.

I couldn't find McDonalds, unless I did the walking thing looking at maps on my iPhone, to which I looked like an idiot crossing streets and walking along looking at the phone all the time....just like the young ones do  Grin

We then did a cruise from Singapore to South East Asia, and I loved it.
Of course, a lot of them places reminded me of Bali.

Now Indonesia is praying the virus away.

Jakarta: Indonesian Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto has said Indonesians should keep praying to God to ensure the country remains free of Covid-19 and defended his country's handling of the outbreak against international criticism.

"We also say prayers together that no coronavirus enters. We hope our country is protected [by God]. And I am sure the prayers of all Indonesians will be blessed by the almighty God.

We continue to pray that God gives protection to our country."

And still, not a single case of batsoupflu in Indonesia. Yeah right.
I told you weeks ago folks, this is the back door which will spread it here.

Jakarta: US diplomats have expressed concerns to top Indonesian government officials about their country's handling of the coronavirus outbreak, warning of the "critical" need to be seeking out and more frequently testing for the virus.

A diplomatic source with knowledge of the meetings also revealed that ambassadors from several western nations - including the United States' recently-departed Joseph Donovan - have raised their concerns with Indonesian Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto and senior officials

The more Islamic, the dumber they are. They have huge issues if the health minister is relying on God to keep them safe.

After the tests , "In September, 2001,  the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency revealed it had kept ash samples from bones collected from hospitals in Adelaide, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne.

In a report to the then federal health minister, Michael Wooldridge, the agency said it had detected varying levels of Strontium-90 in all Australian capital cities."

This causes decay of bones and skull and the so-called 'fallout boy' effect.

weather report
Darwin 32 degrees , showers. Radiation is now 160 MSV rising to 1800 tomorrow. A low pressure with northwest winds is bringing radiation to the inland and east coast. Expected deaths about 30 to around 80 , with 23,000 new cancer cases.  This should ease over the weekend.

Like in WW2 when the Govt mooted to protect stn states & surrender northern Australia aka the "Brisbane Line" ?

Quote:
A treasure trove of documents detailing how Australia was to be subjected to a scorched-earth policy if Japan had invaded 75 years ago has been uncovered in an amazing chance discovery.

Heritage consultant Sue Rosen, researching dusty Forestry Commission files held in the NSW State Records centre in western Sydney, stumbled across the files in 2012. After two years of digging for further files, she has published them in a book, Scorched Earth, to be released next Wednesday.

The files shed light on the controversial Brisbane Line — a reputed strategy of the wartime Menzies government to abandon most of Australia to the invaders and concentrate on defending the nation’s southeast, where most people lived and most industrial capacity was centred.

Quote:
“We know that Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra were to be defended at all costs: too bad if you lived in Darwin, Perth, Adelaide or Hobart, still worse if you lived in Alice Springs or Townsville,” Mr Grose writes in a foreword to Dr Rosen’s forthcoming book.

And you wonder why you self centred mega trendy woke tools south of the border are held with such disregard?  Wink

Why is a sensible defensive plan as the Brisbane Line considered a bad one?  It would abandon largely unsettled land for time to allow the Australian forces to be better organised to mount a counter-offensive.   The Japanese would capture largely empty land and not much else.  The plan would centre the defense on the most important part of Australia the SE Corner, where the majority of the population resided and where the majority of our industry was centred.

However it was only a plan.  The Japanese had no plans to invade Australia.  They lacked the forces and the transport to sustain such an invasion.   Better a plan than no plan.   Roll Eyes

What a load absolute tripe ... that country was already well settled albiet sparsely.

Darwin, Alice Springs, Cairns, Innisfail, Ingham, Townsville, Ayr, Homehill, Bowen, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Maryborough, Gympie, Nambour ... were all large established regional centres.

You've just proven what an absolute prat you really are.

So surrendering 3/4 of the country to hide in the south east would  make it easier to defend?

Of course it would make it easier to defend.  You are only attempting to defend 1/3 of the area you would have to defend if you tried to defend the whole continent.   There was basically little settlement and no industry out there.  You've name a few of the major settlements but how many people were there in real life?  A few tens of thousands.  Most of the population was in the SE Corner of the continent, along with most of the industry.

Anyway, it didn't matter 'cause the Japanese never had any plans to invade Australia.   Basically, it was a sensible defensive plan which never was implemented.   There was no real threat, except in the imaginations of deluded fools like you.   The Japanese lacked the forces required to occupy Australia.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

"The second midget submarine, M-24, crewed by Sub Lieutenant Katsuhisa Ban and Petty Officer Mamoru Ashibe, successfully entered Sydney harbour.  USS Chicago sighted the midget’s periscope about 500 yards distant. However, Chicago’s guns could not be depressed sufficiently and her gunfire had no discernable effect. Half an hour later, Sub Lieutenant Ban fired two torpedoes at Chicago both of which missed the intended target. One passed under the Dutch submarine K9 striking the sea wall on Garden Island. It exploded on impact beneath the requisitioned Sydney Harbour ferry Kuttabul, which at that time was being used as an RAN depot ship. Kuttabul sank immediately and 21 Allied naval ratings, 19 Australian and two British were killed."

I'd Truely love to see the monkeys from Indonesia attempt to invade Australia.

Firstly
They woukd have to get here.
Our jets with their less than adequate armament could still halve any invading force coming over in leaky boats with captains who don't know up from down.

Then there is our wonderful wildlife up there.
At least the crocks woukd be fed and fat
The snakes woukd also have a great time biting monkeys

Then, for the few that manage to get to the largest settlement up there.
By the time they arrived, most of the inhabitants would have taken off.
The one that remain woukd be either abbos, who woukd immediately sue for land rights and better dole payments
Or, would be AUSTRALIANS who are quite well known for being quite good at fighting.
Unlike the monkeys who prefer to run and strike in sneaky ways.

Now, supposing they did manage to take over Darwin.
Then What?
It's quite a march from Darwin to the next city centre
And by then Aussie all over woukd come to defend their home.
Not all men have yet been pussyfied by the female education system, many of us are still men.

So, the monkeys, having been smashed floating over
Eaten and bitten by lots of nasties
Smashed by locals and financially strapped by abbos
Now have to march thousands of miles through what is essentially, desert.

Back come the jets
Taking out any and all support that the monkeys rely on to feed and water their troops.
It will get pretty dry and they will get pretty hungry.

They could drink water you say
Well, if they decided to attack in the wet season, they woukd still be battling their way through for months
And in the dry season, it's, well ........dry.

So
The attacking force of say 10 million
Would dwindle down to say 5 million before they hit our shores
Maybe 1 million by the time they get past Darwin
Perhaps a 500 thousand by the time they get to townsville.

But they still have quite a ways to go.

Perhaps they could take Australia
But at what cost?
And if you honestly believe that Australia has no weapons of mass destruction, you are sillier than I thought.

Good old Indonesia would cop at least a small one to give them a wake up call.
Do you think pine gap is a holiday resort?

Nah
Let them come
It woukd certainly give the dole bludgers something to do.

"Fat Man" was the codename for the nuclear bomb that was detonated over the Japanese city of Nagasaki by the United States on 9 August 1945. It was the second of the only two nuclear weapons ever used in warfare, the first being Little Boy, or Fallout Boy.

Indonesian illegal fisherman and even far-flung African Pirates have been landing on Australian shores to clean their catches.
Sure, many get caught and with no passports, eventually sent back to Indonesia (who always deny's them as Indonesians).
But many still keep getting away with it.

These people will still bring the Virus into Australia if it gets that bad. They won't be compromising their 'business' for any lockdown and social distancing 'crap' as they would consider it. They're used to doing things illegally.

Australian Border Control and Aboriginal Coastal Rangers need to up things against this.

If we made our own Mini-sub fleet. We could always catch them unawares more successfully.

240,000?

They'll have to do better than that if they want to beat the US.

Trump is on track to kill at least twice that many.
