Multi-millionaire businessman Sir Ron Brierley has been arrested and charged for alleged possession of child pornography by Sydney detectives who have seized 200,000 photo and video files.

The 82-year-old investor and corporate raider was arrested at Sydney Airport after being stopped by Australian Border Force at about 6:30am yesterday on route to Fiji.

Mr Brierley, who was admitted as a Knight in 1988, is one of New Zealand’s most successful businessmen and former trustee of the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust.

He is the founder of one of the country’s biggest investment companies R.A. Brierley Investments.

Police allege they began an investigation into child pornography in the eastern suburbs area in August this year.

During this investigation information led them to believe that Mr Brierley was in possession of child pornography material.

Detectives are now going through more than 200,000 photo files and more than 700 videos files contained on devices seized at the airport and his home after he was arrested.

After he was detained at the airport police executed a search warrant at his eastern Suburbs home and took possession of another computer and more electronic storage devices such as USBs.

Mr Brierley lives in one of Sydney’s richest streets in Point Piper.

An international alert was placed on his name by detectives.

It’s alleged they found child porn images on his laptop and other electronic devices in his carry-on luggage.

He was taken to Mascot police station where he was charged with six counts relating to possession of child porn.

It’s believed one of the six charges relates to “highly sexualised images’’ of an underage girl found on one of the devices police have gone through already, according to a source.

The investigation will also try and trace the identity of those in the images and the origins to see if the alleged child pornagraphy was produced locally or overseas.

He was given strict bail conditions to appear at the Downing Centre on February 2.

The experts were correct when they claimed that paedophiles pursue their sexual interest in children right through into extreme old age, even unto death

I'm glad they got him instead of letting him off due to his 'eminence'

I'm glad he's been publicly outed as an example to all other 'important' deviants

but they can't be 'cured'. There exists no cure other than death

Worst of all is the source of the material seized by police. Behind every image is or was a child

thats whats hard to comprehend isnt it...here he is obviously moves in high circles......god only know what he knows....or should that be WHO....

its good to know they catch them eventually... so much harm done though to those children.. its unforgivable.

they call it "LOVE"... to their sick minds thats how they work it the kids they pick on are usually starved of real love......... I show my kids they are loved all the time.....please everyone never stop telling them that....
