U.S. Presidents & Stock Markets
Dec 1st, 2019 at 11:17pm

U.S. presidents don't move stock markets. They don't deserve credit when they rise. They shouldn't be blamed when they fall. But are you curious to know how U.S. stocks performed during the first 3 years for each of the past 7 U.S. presidents? Each won elections in November, so that's when enthusiasm might have been highest. The total 3-year growth of U.S. stocks from December 1st, after their election wins, to December 1st, three years later.

1st Place: George H.W. Bush: +62.49%
2nd Place: Barack Obama: +54.97%
3rd Place: Bill Clinton: +52.67%
4th Place: Donald Trump: +52.10%
5th Place: Jimmy Carter: + 38.2%
6th Place: Ronald Reagan: +36.74%
7th Place: George GW Bush: -5.82%

That is certainly reflection on how awesome the capitalist system is

of course it does create inequality there are people at the top and people at the bottom

But that is always the case

It was certainly the case in Soviet Russia in maoist China in the killing Fields of Cambodia
In Venezuela

So inequality is a given

But prosperity is incredibly rare

The fact of the capitalist system continues to create more and more and more prosperity it's a miracle

someone did an analysis on whether you would actually be better off to be Howard Hughes the billionaire 100 years ago or someone on welfare benefits in 2019
you are much better off being someone on welfare benefits in 2019
Needles when you go to the dentist
Safe delivery of your children in a maternity hospital
Vaccinations
Miraculous medications to cure many conditions
Air conditioning
Access to an excess of food
Able to travel two other continents in hours instead of weeks
Incredibly safe living conditions
Ability to communicate with people wherever you are

There is no doubt that the capitalist system needs people to show it much more gratitude

I hope that you are all genuflecting before your refrigerator as you went to your kitchen

No group of people but ever walk the planet had access to a device that provided safe and plentiful food on tap and ready to go
you should fall your knees and front of your refrigerator and weep tears of joy about what capitalism has achieved for you

50% growth in the first three years of most presidencies
What are the chances of that
Without gratitude and was the younger generation now espousing marxism you can soon expect much of what you have been given to be taken away
