Braidwood was (and still is) a small town. I didn't know anyone there because I only visited a couple times as I was living in Darwin at the time

Just saw from a Doco on Australian Bushfires.
The past Canberra Fire Storm was exactly that.
The Cloud of Smoke from that Fire-maelstrom rose far higher in the atmosphere than the Tsar Bomb or the usual Volcano eruption.
It was caused by a Tornado of Fire reaching a km into the sky. A km long fire tunnel of air reaching up to the sky from the massive bushfire.

Now that's a Balrog! Shocked
