For those of you who dont know, you need to read up on the text of the medevac law.
It contains two components. First, a panel of medical professionals - including the chief medical officer, and representatives of medical councils, have to approve on medical grounds that the transfer is necessary. Second, minister Dutton, have to approve the transfer on security grounds - because, well, the medical professions have no idea about security issues around individuals.
And when these two components are met, the detainee then allowed into Australia for treatment, but must be under guard / effective detention at all times. And when, the medical issue is dealt with, he or she is to return to offshore facility.
As you can see, if there is no issue about 'letting in' criminals, or circum-navigate the immigration system. If there is going to be a security issue, then its minister Dutton asleep on the job.
So get your facts straight.
if that were the case..
there would be no case or issue..
the legals will be lining up to prevent them returning once they are on the mainland....of course they are under guard but that isnt the point......why do you think Morrison reopened Christmas Island?????????????????????????????... why do we stop the boats getting to shore??????????????????????
because once they hit the mainland everything changes
