Trump: "We didn't commit to protect Kurds for the rest of their lives"

I can't fault him on any of the points he made.  I hope he gets re-elected. He doesn't talk like a politician. Doesn't think like a politician.

Oh, I know. That's why he attaches political quid pro quos to things like military aid, no?

Of course you hope he gets re-elected. Trump is the most crooked, hyper-partisan political hack we've ever seen. And you, old boy, are one of the biggest hyper-partisan zealots here.

Just think, Trump stopped the government for over a month just to play politics over funding for a wall he hasn't even started building. He sent 20,000 troops to the border to assist with repairing fencing. Then he cut military funds for child care and veterans to pay for his wall under the premise of "national security".

So much for that. To date, not a metre of new barriers have been built.

Trump has politicised the public service to such an extent that all through the State Department and intelligence services, career public servants have been fired for not toeing the party line. FBI agents, ambassadors, directors and senior prosecutors - all sacked for trying to do their jobs instead of carrying out hatchet jobs on Trump's political enemies. Trump  even hires a personal "lawyer" to deal with foreign governments and undermine the State Department - a lawyer so tied up in foreign deals, he couldn't get the security clearance required to become Secretary of State in the first place.

Meanwhile, that lawyer is on the defence after his two associates were busted for electoral fraud, paying undeclared millions to the Trump campaign to establish their political connections.

Of course you want another 4 years of this. You stand for backward tribalism and brazen political corruption. These are your proud "Western values", your "superior culture". For you, the West represents an elite club of politically-connected hacks and spivs who spout racially superior isolationism. Truth, facts, the rule of law - all are thrown out the window in your promotion of "post-racist" alternative facts and propaganda.

The reason you support 4 more years of lies and social division comes down to one thing only: white supremacy. You'll tolerate all the corruption in the world if it targets the tinted races and shthole countries. This is your reason-d'être, your core. And you'll use every trick in the book to spread it.

Always absolutely never ever, no?

The Kurds have backed off, all is well, peace finally and the Muslims can go about their day to day business, cleaning and servicing their new machine guns.

Uncle blew those guns up, Matty - just in time for the Turks to storm in, kill a few hundred Kurds and turn 200,000 into refugees.

They're the people who Mr Trump relied on to defeat ISIS. 10,000 of them were killed.

What turned you off them so?

And what made you love the Saudis so much you support 3,500 US troops sent in to support them?

You don't have junk bonds in the Trump Mecca, do you?

Good luck with that, dear.

Peace, eh? Russia, Turkey, Syria, the Kurdish militia, the Iranian militias, and a few hundred escaped ISIS prisoners running around in their burqas.

And get this - Uncle didn't even leave. He just got out of the way for Erdogan.

Trump Tower Instanbul, you see.

You mean like keeping 50 troops in Northern Syria instead of sending them off to seize oil wells?

Gee, you're right, Matty. I never thought of that. What more could anybody do?

Pity the US oil business considers this a war crime and doesn't want a bar of it, eh?

The last I heard they were going to seize the dilapidated oil wells and fix them up to help out their allies in the region, would you rather ISIS get control of them again.

No, dear, they are under orders to seize and guard the oil wells from the Kurds and Syrians. The aim is to secure this oil for American oil companies. Mr Trump's been quite clear about that.

Problem is, the State Department, Pentagon and every other US government agency can't see how to carry this out without being accused of piracy. More, they worry about the impact this will have on Arab views of America, giving ISIS better publicity on the Great Satan than they could come up with themselves.

That's the thing about Trump policies, Matty. You couldn't make them up.

You?

Trump Invites a New Killing Field

Trump’s betrayal of the Kurds isn’t just immoral—there’s no strategic reason for it.
By FRED KAPLAN

Quote:
It is hardly the first time that the United States has betrayed the Kurds, but President Donald Trump’s announcement on Sunday—that he’s pulling U.S. troops out of northern Syria and allowing the Turkish army to mow the Kurds down—is particularly shocking (even the Turks were surprised) and harmful to U.S. security too.

The likely consequences of Trump’s actions are not some unforeseen side effect; he acknowledged, and even welcomed, them explicitly. A statement released by the White House noted that Trump spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan by phone. It then went on:

Turkey will soon be moving forward with its long-planned operation into Northern Syria. The United States Armed Forces will not support or be involved in the operation, and United States forces, having defeated the ISIS territorial “Caliphate,” will no longer in the immediate area.

In other words, Trump was telling Erdogan: Come on in. You’ll have an open field for killing.

For several years now, through the Obama and Trump administrations, Washington has relied on the Syrian Kurdish militia as the most potent fighters against ISIS, also known as the Islamic State. About 11,000 Kurds died in that fight. Now that they’ve played the lead role in ousting ISIS from its territory, Trump is abandoning them.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/10/trump-syria-kurds-turkey.html

The Turks are going after the YPG because they see them as a terrorist organisation like the PKK. The PKK conduct attacks against Turkish policemen and soldiers everyday in Turkey (this doesn't make the media in the West). The Turks believe having the YPG on the Syrian border would only strengthen the PKK and intensify attacks within Turkey.

US deploys mechanized forces in eastern Syria

US forces were seen patrolling in eastern #Syria on Sunday.

The Iraqi Kurdish channel Rudaw TV broadcast footage of a column of American military vehicles, among them a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, part of the new mechanized unit that the U.S. said it was deploying in eastern Syria.

America has withdrawn some of its forces from along the country's northeastern border following Turkey's invasion on 9 October.

The Middle East has got just like Vietnam -

America pulls out and loses the war.
Tariq Aziz tried to warn the Yanks of that many years ago in Iraq.
