I wonder if these children were told what they would be without if we got rid of fossil fuels if they would still feel the same way.

Ipad, Iphone, transport, heating cooling etc etc.

Bet they don't tell them these things.

have you ever tried removing one of these phones from a teenager... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I wonder how many live without air conditioning being part of their lives...

Taking an iphone from a teenager would be like taking the bottle away from a hungry infant....LOL...... Sad

worse they take doors off hinges or  call the police or child protection.. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

when a 20 yr old becomes PM

they will make a law that puts parents in jail for 20 years for depriving a child of its phone. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

so you live without the cholesterol tablets, arthritis medication, pain kllers and heart tablets just because generations before you did? or does your logic only apply to today's kids?

By the way, i notice you tend to be on your pc all day every day without ever complaining about it  ... but if kids do it it's a bad thing, right? Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Youth did more than that to their parents in Germany(WW2) ..... and Chinese Youth under MAO and the youth in Cambodia under Pol Pot.

But that could be an outcome from snowflake millennials.

Quote:
To all the school kids going on strike for climate change, you’re the first generation who have required air conditioning in every room.

You want TV in every room, and your classes are all computerized.

You spend all day and night on electronic devices,” said Jones

“More than ever, you don’t walk or ride bikes to school,” he continued, “but you arrive in caravans of private cars that choke suburban roads and worsen rush hour traffic.”

“You’re the biggest consumer of manufactured goods ever, and update perfectly good expensive luxury items to stay trendy,”

“Your entertainment comes from electric devices. Furthermore, the people driving your protests are the same people who insist on artificially inflating the population growth through immigration which increases the need for energy, manufacturing and transport.”

“The more people we have, the more forest and bushland we clear, the more of the environment that’s destroyed” continued Jones.

It was here that the letter writer proposed a solution, and Jones read it with clear satisfaction.

“How about this,” said Jones,

“tell your teacher to turn off the air-con, walk or ride to school, switch off your devices and read a book, make a sandwich instead of buying manufactured fast food.”

“But none of this will happen because, you’re selfish, badly educated, virtue-signaling little turds inspired by the adults around you who crave a feeling of having a noble cause while they indulge themselves in western luxury and unprecedented quality of life.

The piece ends by saying wake up, grow up, and shut up until you’re sure of the facts before protesting.”

Between the age of 1 and 18, I had not much to keep me entertained. We had an old black and white television that I watched Sesame Street until age 2. Then we swapped over to a colour television.... where I watched shows like Sesame Street until age 10. Books became a thing when I learned to read. A computer was something to play asteroids. Dinner consisted of sausages and vegetables most nights of the week. Sunday night dinner was a roast. We had the occasional pizza or KFC.

I rode my bike to school every school day. Even when it was raining. The joys of unrusting my chain every March. School started in late January. It was hot until about March. Got hot again after the September holiday break. We had to get a drink of water from the water fountain before class and before we went back to class after lunch break. The high school allowed us to bring water into class. Though I did not see this happen at an educational institution until I attended the CQU.

We did have computers at school. But, we did not get proper access to the internet until I started university in 1997. And even then, we had to take our patience to a new level for our dial-up internet. Or, we had to share a broadband connection among 200 other users.

Television consisted of 2 channels until 1990. Then we had 4 after that. SBS became available in 1992. But, we considered that the foreign softporn channel. I will admit, I was addicted to Atari, and then Nintendo in my preteens and teenage years.

However, I think we probably used less electricity then than we do now. Heck, Mum and Dad installed solar panels to complement the hot water solar we already had. They have not had a power bill in the last 10 years.
