'Tracking attempts blocked'
Sep 6th, 2019 at 1:44pm

I use Firefox.  It updated this morning.  Ever since, when I log into OzPol there is a new thing in the address bar:

See that symbol beside www.ozpolitics etc.  The 'triangle' with that quotation mark inside it....when I hover the mouse over it, it reads 'Tracking attempts blocked.'

Freediver?  Anyone?

It's your Abblocker working, Aussie.

If you can't be a good example, you have to be a horrible warning.

Okay.  That symbol was never there before the Firefox update today and I have had the adblocker for ages.

Be weary about using the TOR browser.  I don't know if this is still in effect,

I've temporarily blocked Tor exit nodes and am considering blocking public proxies.

FD is away and I see no other way to stop some of the forum/member abuse recently. If you use these services, I'm sorry but for the time being you'll have to access the site more conventionally.

Please point any problems/whining towards me. This is on my head and nothing to do with FD or other gmods.

It might not work at all.

It will work. I don't update the list as often as the exit nodes are published so some might get through one day but blocked the next. It will at least be very frustrating if you rely on a Tor browser.

I Don't know if this is it but Firefox have been advertising that they are going to make their DNS lookups SSL protected cloud based queries.

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/09/09/mozilla_firefox_dns/

Check to see if this is turned on:

Enabling and disabling DNS-over-HTTPS
You can enable or disable DoH in your Firefox connection settings:

Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Options.
In the General panel, scroll down to Network Settings and click the Settings… button.
In the dialog box that opens, scroll down to Enable DNS over HTTPS.
On: Select the Enable DNS over HTTPS checkbox. Select a provider or set up a custom provider.
Off: Deselect the Enable DNS over HTTPS checkbox.

Note: for a home user this is probably mostly ok

On a corporate computer many things may break and it should not be used. Particularly of duel brain DNS is in use as internal DNS searches will not be possible.

On windows 10 64bit with Windows 10 Firewall and Webroot Secure Anywhere.

Chrome is smooth and works.

Opera is good for lookups and general stuff. There is a problem with some printing I have found.

Firefox is vulnerable to some spyware attacks. I have had to delete all of it including the data area and reinstall it.

IceDragon is quite good.

There is a rumor that Microsoft is bringing out a new browser. Bout time.

I don't know if your internet provider can cause any problems.

Good to know, although I've not used ToR in a long time.

It's something you have been putting up with forever that a new version of a browser with new features is telling you that advertisers are tracking you to to target their ads. If they never mentioned it, you would be none the wiser. Use adblocker and scriptsafe. That will mean you may have problems with some sites though as you need to know what to allow, that's the trade off.
