Please don't thank me. Effusive fawning and obeisance of disciples, mendicants, and foot-kissers embarrass me.

If you had to pay over $2/L for fueling your car, you would probably not use your car too often. There are also pollution controls in place to cut the amount of pollution in those large British cities.

Ta.

Australia going back to the Stone Age would make no difference to anything - except Australia.  Most of the people on this Earth are in the Third Wold in grinding poverty with about 2 billion of them without water and electricity in the way we understand those services.

I think Mr J. Swift's modest proposal should be revived and all those poor Third Worlders should sell their many, many  - tooooo many - children to the small minority of First Worlders as food. This would, in a single stroke, eliminate poverty, population explosion, cattle breeding and its concomitant methane emissions and reduce carbon emission, thereby meeting our target of calibrating global warming (is that still a current slogan?) to 2 degrees C within -what? 100 years? what's the target for humans controlling the weather and temperature?
Well, whatever it is, only good things would come by adopting Mr Swift's solution which, after almost 300 years, is still staring us in the face as the only sensible answer to the various crises we seem to be having: eat the poor. What other use do they have?

Mr J Smith's modest proposal  - eat the children - has been taken tearily  seriously by the 'climate crisis' and 'extinction rebellion' nutters:

Nothing is too farcical or outlandish for zealous boneheads.

Great - if we can keep up the good work we'll take the gold medal...

We aren't Britain - we're a much larger nation and travel is required much more....
