Would you allow him free reign?
Aug 20th, 2019 at 6:22pm

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/tess-knight-tells-of-terror-while-beg...

The shattered mother of schoolgirl Samantha Knight, killed by serial paedophile Michael Guider, today told of the 12,000 days of sheer “desolation, terror and anxiety” she has suffered since he abducted, drugged, and molested her daughter 33 years ago.

Tess Knight begged Supreme Court judge Richard Button not to release the former gardener, whose sentence for manslaughter expired on June 6 after he served 17 years behind bars for the manslaughter of the nine-year-old, telling the judge: “The hurt never goes away.”

Guider, 68, is currently on an interim detention order to remain in Long Bay jail until August 28 and the judge decides whether he should be held behind bars on a continuing detention order.

NSW Attorney-General Mark Speakman is seeking to stop his release for another 12 months and to have him supervised for another five years when he is eventually let out.

Her voice cracking with emotion, Ms Knight told a packed courtroom: “For years I tried to remain in control in case they found Samantha and she needed me, but if I appeared that way, it was a facade.

“I cannot find the words to describe the desolation, terror and anxiety I suffered — Guider could have ended this fear at any time and come forward.

“He has chosen never to reveal what he has done to Samantha or with her body,” she said, tears cascading down her face as she read through her 13-page victim impact statement.

“I live with flashbacks of child pornography, his flaccid penis beside naked bodies of children — this is how I tried to help find my daughter.

“Because of the lack of detail my mind tries to fill in the gaps.

“When I understood she was probably dead, I felt strangely exhilarated, as if I was bringing Samantha home — but he never gave any details.

“I have imagined thousands of scenarios — was she scared straight away, did he have a car, was it a long drive, did she call out for me, did she say ‘I want my mummy?’”

This man has been a dangerous, serious sexual predator of children, whatever remorse he may now show, it was not enough to change his behaviour in the past and it is not enough for the future — please do not release this man into the community.”

Samantha night vanished from her beachside Bondi unit in 1986.

Guider, who has never expressed any remorse for killing Samantha, was charged with her murder in 2001 but pleaded guilty to manslaughter under the weight of evidence including a confession to his artist brother Tim.

He told police in 2003 he had buried Samantha in a garden at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron where he was working in 1986.

Forensic psychiatrist Jonathan Adams told the court his July assessment of Guider revealed he was at high risk of future sexual offending pre and peripubescent boys and girls and moderate risk of future violent sexual offending.

“He is at risk of offending in a sexual manner,” he told the court.
“He has images of children in his cell, it doesn’t tell us anything conclusive, it’s more important to know did Mr Guider know that sort of behaviour was forbidden?

“He says he hasn’t had a sexual fantasy since before he was jailed (in 1996) … it’s improbable.

“He does not offend in exactly the same way, he offends both sober and when he has consumed alcohol … he told me even while having adult relationships”

Guider attacked a string of children aged between two and 15. He has completed 55 therapeutic maintenance programs in jail.

The court heard he has not indicted a willingness to take anti libidinal drugs to reduce his sex drive, if released, because they may contraindicate his heart medications.

Dr Adams said it was “a concern” an extended supervision order (ESO) would not prevent him from reoffending but believed he could be managed in a supportive community setting and would need long-term treatment.

“There is no guarantee that if Mr Guider complies with anti libidinal medication … it would reduce his risk of reoffending, it might,” Mr Adams said.

“Mr Guider needs long term treatment and risk management, more than five years.”

Psychiatrist Jenny Howell said it was a concern Guider has never applied for parole and agreed he should be monitored through a five-year extended supervision order if released.

“He does not deny past sexual thoughts of predominantly female children.

“He is a sexual deviant, if he were to be under in an ESO, it would require a substantial ESO that would monitor changes,” she said.

“He talks about having a low interest in sexual activity now and has no ejaculation,” she told the court.

“He says he does not engage in sexual fantasies of children now.”

Waiving her anonymity, victim Lisa Giles, 43, urged judge Button not to release the convicted child sex abuser from jail, revealing the former family friend systematically abused her when she was five.

Holding her mother’s hand in the witness box, a tearful Mrs Giles, 43, told a packed court Guider “loved to see the innocence of a child taken on their faces.”

“He has no empathy, he to driven always by the desire to fulfil the physical urge — we were not always sedated, sometimes we were awake and aware”.

“I recall playing hide and seek in my home with him and my brothers while he kept them away and I received oral sex from a giant Michael Guider.

“I was one of his conquests, the State Library holds his publications — his punishment needs to be more bespoke than the current extended supervision order, left free, he’ll do it again.”

Lisa told the court she had lived with the “virus” of being one of Guider’s conquests.

“At 36 I felt I was abusing my own newborn baby by just changing her nappy, I live with complex PTSD — it’s a form of imprisonment,” she said.

“Michael has requested that he live an isolated life because he fears for his safety but the peace and quiet will allow him to retreat into his memories without being judged.

“No amount of education or medication can change him, — if you forbid him material, including access to the internet, he’ll create his own. He’s remorseless and self-righteous.

“Set him free, give him an inch and he will take a mile.”

Samantha Knight’s body has never been found but Guider, an amateur archaeologist, has revealed he believes she is buried in a cemetery on Sydney’s lower north shore.

Guider’s lawyer had argued if he were allowed to live in the community he could stay in a halfway house attached to Long Bay jail and abide by 56 conditions that would be stricter than any parole.

The former babysitter and landscaper believes he has been “punished enough “and revealed he was bashed twice in custody, according to court documents.

Lawyers for the government have previously said he would be assessed for any anti-libidinal drugs when he is released from jail but the so-called chemical castration only works for a minority of paedophiles.

He has completed three sex offender treatment courses that have not been shown to stop recidivism.

Judge Button will reserve judgment on Guider’s potential release by the eve of September 4 when the current extended interim detention order expires.

Crown prosecutor David Kell urged the judge to impose an extra one-year additional detention order and thereafter a five-year extended supervision order to monitor Guider’s release.

“His contradictory statements to psychiatrists on accepting blame for Knight’s killing showed him to be passive aggressive and lacking in remorse,” Mr Kell said.

“There is a failure to provide information regarding circumstances of the offences, this is to a huge extent a denial.

“If he were to be successfully released into the community, it will be a high risk venture, you would be releasing an institutionalised man … he poses an unacceptable risk of reoffending.”

Guider’s lawyer Mathew Johnston argued Guider should be released under a strict extended supervision order given he had engaged in rehabilitation and had the trust of NSW Corrective Services complying with 20 supervised day releases.

He said Guider’s sketch of a boy photographed in a magazine (seven and half years ago) was not “naked, erotic or troubling.”

“He understands he has an obligation under an ESO, and the capacity to be scrutinised under an ESO, because he has lived with that degree of scrutiny when had limited exposure to the community,” Mr Johnston said.

“He would not be released and be able to have any association with children, certain places, or alcohol”.

Outside court Ms Knight said she had no faith following today’s hearing that Guider would not be “dangerous” if released.

“He takes legal responsibility I’m not sure he takes moral responsibly,” she said.

The anti death penalty crowd should be ashamed of themselves. This feller should have had a swift execution after his trial.

Very sad to read.

If such a person does not 'confess' to every detail needed, like the whereabouts of the bodies. Then they should never be released. For it proves that they will re-offend. He can admit that he no longer feels the 'urge'. But its obvious he is just lying and laughing at the System.

The Medical Industry is just trying to float its own boat of success that he is a prize example of their expertise.  Roll Eyes
Is that really worth another life of a child?  Huh Angry
If he can't confess for those who lost their children, why the Medical Industry thinks he is 're-habilitated' is beyond me?  Roll Eyes Maybe Bojack would like to comment on this?

Like the Scorpion to the Frog, he'll promise not to sting the Frog if it carries him across the stream knowing that if he does - they both drown. Half-way across, he (Scorpion) does sting the Frog that carries him and they both drown. The Frog cries "Why?!" and the Scorpion just says "It's my
nature
."

This man should never be released, even 'after' he confesses. For he will kill again. For the Prisons of today, no longer can break a Soul - only 'nurture' the evil that resides within.

Both.  If rehabilitation is a lost cause, let's stop kidding ourselves that Government provides the necessary resources.

200+ odd years ago. The Guards 'ruled' the Prison and the Convicts.

Today, the Criminals rule the Prison and keep the Guards paid like their Support Workers. They even provide contraband for them and mobile phones.  Roll Eyes Today, the Prisoners are harder than the Prisons.

The Human Rights of the Public have been compromised by the Lefties.
Soon the Prisoners will be getting the System to go out and get them some 'fresh meat' to be brought in for them via 6 month Gaol terms.

We should 'smuggle' Prisoners down into the deepest darkest Labs of the CSIRO and other 'Privateers' to have 'Biological Experiments' conducted on them.
Maybe biologically engineer them to become KAIJU and invade the USA and its Silicon Valley.
Cheesy
