This is what happens when you never finish high school

I reckon you finished high school in the 60s hippie

Does finishing grade 12 at high school really matter?

A lot of very successful people never completed high school....even dropped out before yr 10.
Also....
A lot of oxygen gets wasted by high school grads after they leave too.

Are you sure you're a young woman from Colorado mala
Because your post sound like an angry 60 year old male Marxist
Because you seem a lot better versed in socio-political belief systems then one would expect for a young woman
Lol lol lol

But be that as it may your example shows exactly why capitalism works
GM are cutting corners and maximizing short-term profit
Won't work
Everybody around the world kNOWS GM products are now pure garbage
Transmissions fall apart
Check out the resale on Chevys over 5 years old
Unhappy workers produce garbage products
Gm's profits will fall
Consumers won't buy it
Good riddance to bad rubbish

Compare that to a successful capitalist company
Honda and Toyota which are both extremely profitable
Run forever
Virtually zero recalls
People keep coming back and buying them over and over again
Management employees get on well
Seriously in America the staff from the Toyota company
The management and the workers all used to go on holidays together

This is why capitalism just producers such massive wealth
Because the most productive elements of society
Are allowed to grow and grow
And the garbage companies end up at the garbage dump

The consumer can price everything
Corollas and Honda civics sell for weigh more then nizsan & GM products

How did this work in a socialist country
at the height of the Russian failed experiment
The central Soviet was having 2 price 10000 items a day
How can you price something
You can't

You let it go out to market
A consumer arranges the products into a hierarchy
A meritocracy
And the cream rises to the top

There is simply no better system than this
Ask your pals in Venezuela

I could not agree more, dear. Japanese cars are certainly superior to American cars. The Japs certainly forced "Australian" cars to lift their game. Before the Japs started exporting, you couldn't even get a radio or a heater in an Australian car.

Why would we value American jobs more than Mexican or Japanese jobs? Someone's got to make the cars we drive.

Globalisation, innit. We're fans, no?

globalisation   =   each country does what it does best within firm borders and with a culture that binds people together as patriots.

so japan is japanese and makes great hondas and toyotas
south korea is south korean and makes great samsung products.
australia is australian and makes great beef and coal.

each country plays to its strengths but the people remain patriotic and proud strong powerful and resourceful.

globalism  =  a political movement involving a coalition of western political elites, western intellectual elites,  the big media players, the university intellectuals  and the big global tech company CEO's which says we need to construct a cultural soup and break down borders and do away with the nation state . it is a movement which sees a free flow of people  and sees borders as essentially racist

(this despite the fact that the western political elites, western intellectual elites,  the big media players, the university intellectuals  and the big global tech company CEO's all live in "gated communities"  Grin Grin Grin Grin

There is no distinction, dear. Globalisation is the same phenomenon with different effects.

The globalist multinationals don't care about borders, they merely want to maximise profit. They value the nation state when it protects their patents. They dismiss it when it taxes their profits. They're big enough to shop around for their own countries and tax rates. Some are considering headquarters built in international waters.

It's not personal, this is capitalism. The multinationals couldn't change it if they tried. They're driven by investment - capital.

Nations too are driven by capital. Without investment, they have no strength. Cambodia has very weak borders. I can buy a business visa there at the border. I can bribe an immigration official for a permanent visa on the spot. Cambodia, you see, is the 2nd poorest country in South East Asia. It is forced to open its borders for investment.

Burma is the poorest. It's poor because the generals locked it up. For many years, their borders were closed. They're now changing. Their economic growth directly correlates to tourism and trade, much of it with China.

After its superannuation pool, Australia relies solely on foreign investment. We've always been open for business. Our iconic products are foreign. Football, meat pies, kangaroos and Holden cars comes from an American ad for Chevrolet. Prior to the introduction of television, Australians saw themselves as British. We've often fought for Mother England and its allies' borders, at great cost to Australians.

The US got into the globalisation business after WWII, when world trade was done in US dollars (due to its gold standard, much of it seized or banked during WWII). US manufacturers, largely started up through war contracts, exported. When Germany, Japan and then South Korea recovered, they became competitors with Uncle. Their manufacturers had also grown big from WWII contracts. From the 1970s on, they superceded the US in many export markets, such as cars and electronics. When global trade rules were liberalised, investors got in. Capital, as it inevitably will, followed the profits.

Ultimately, there's no such thing as globalisation, just capitalism. This is the system we're in. As we were once subjects of the Crown, we're now subjects of capitalism. Homo economicus, innit.

i reject most of that.

japan, south korea, taiwan, singapore , switzerland, the UAE, are rich , powerful and totally capitalist society who have embraced capitalism but have not embraced any sort of "open borders"

i think last year, japan took 1 assylum seeker .

and capitalism with open borders is a catastrophe for the workforce at the bottom.
Bernie sanders even admits this .
Cesar Chavez, a hero of the farm workers union organised strikes that demanded that mexicans be deported.
it surprises me that the left are so keen on open borders.
it is a delight to the capitalist CEO's and a disaster for their core constituents.

you want to ask yourself "why did so many of the working poor vote for a rich mogul like trump?"

you want to reflect on that for about 5 years

The conservatives here seem to believe that accepting refugees in need of help is 'open borders'.

Capitalism relies on open borders, dear. How else would the big manufacturers offshore? They simply transfer funds to China, move production there, then ship the products all over the world.

Easy. Capitalism's "golden age" in the 19th century is described thus because of its freedom of movement between borders. You could grow opium in India, ship it to China and ship the payment in Chinese silver off to the Bank of England. No worries.

If any Chinese were chased out, they caught ships to the goldfields of Australia or Amerika's Wild West. Any Injuns? The Brits moved them round as indentured labourers - South Africa, Malaya, the Dutch East Indies. They worked so hard, Mother thanked them with her love.

Freedom of trade, freedom of labour. The golden age of capitalism before WWI, WWII and the Cold War put up all those borders.

I've already asked you why the working poor voted for Mr Trump, remember? You said he tricked them with his awesome Tweets.

They're really dumb, you see. They're just want to be entertained. They live lives of pure garbage. Mr Trump is able to exploit this market because he's so cunning.

Cometh the hour cometh the man, no?

Well, you must admit, 13,000 a year is a lot.
