Put the owners down.
I can't believe the dog has not been destroyed.
Why people own dogs like that then take them to "The park" around all those kids and families has me fuct.
I also hate hearing "oh but that dog is not a vicious breed". Who cares? All dogs can bite unannounced.....so as a dog owner you have a duty of care.
Recently I posted how I walk a Golden Retriever for a client of mine who is unable to do so anymore. I walk the Dog in a few areas, one of which is an official Council 'Un-Leased' area. Now the Common Sense (of the Common People) is that if you approach someone with a dog also, that you are not familiar with - then 're-leashing' should be done upon approach or even first sighting along a narrow path. The dogs know one another well, then by all means, leave unleashed if desired.
So anyway, this {edited}...she yelled out
"It's ok, he's friendly" as her Great Dane Cross something charged at my passive assistant-like dog and attacked it, with the Retriever submitting and unable to fight back (because it didn't know how probably). I had to reef her mutt off and get her to restrain it by its harness. She said
"He's never done that before!" which I later learned, it has done before.
And there has been many other close calls with owners over-doing the 'unleashed' privilege.
