I'm not Catholic. You? Not Muslim either. I'm sure even if she was 12 when she was wed to a nonagenarian that would need Viagra, it's not the same as wedding a 6 year old to a 50yo Mohammed that could thigh her until he could consummate the marriage at 9. I mean, Moh was obviously a young and virile man compared to 90yo Joseph. He needed a young and sexy 6 year old to marry.

edit: I'm more than happy to concede that 12 to 15 was the age of marriage in ancient times. Life was short and brutal, old enough to bleed, old enough to breed and all. 6yo girls do not bleed, 9 yo girls bleeding is a relatively new phenomenon if what I have read is correct. Moh was interested in prepubescents, a paedo. Considering the power imbalance and grooming that must have occurred in those 3 years, it was also rape.

It's almost exactly the same. Mary was sold off to Joseph, Moh took in Aisha. And he didn't consummate the arrangement until she reached puberty, like the Holy Spirit did to Mary.

That's when you did it back then. You'd get in quick before everybody drops dead. Plenty of the girls did too - during childbirth. You popped those kids out as quick as you can because every one of them added to your family's wealth.

Who do you think ran Joseph's carpentry shop? How do you think Moh did so well in business? The more kids you had, the more wealth. Nothing to do with religion whatsoever.

But I'm curious. For a self-professed atheist, you seem pretty secular when it comes to preferencing Christianity and the Mother of God over Islam.

It seems to matter because... Religion. I don't subscribe to any of them. It seems the people sticking up for Moh think having a menstruating girl of 12-15 is equal to taking a wife when she is six, as long as you don't poke her until she is 9, all's good.

The GOOGF card for Moh is apparently Joseph's wife was at least twice as old as Moh's but we have no evidence of a a 90yo Joseph porking Mary. He just took care of her. On the other hand, in the case of Moh... Come here child...

I believe the rather vague answer in the texts is "puberty", but feel free to put a figure on it. 9 is, after all, a holy number in Islam.
