So the rich can separate their little bastards from the children of decent hard working Australian's and maintain their belief that money makes them superior....If the playing field was level do you think these spoilt little bastards would achieve anything without their parents (taxpayers) money to buy their education....When the need is outweighed by the greed it is the Government who are too blame....Let private schools fund their own lavish extravagance and maintain public funding for public schools only....Let the privileged enjoy the extravagance their money can buy and leave public funding for those who need it!!!

That proves Phil's point. The rich are delusional. They live in ivory towers shielded from the real world.

Just saying it the way it is Fred....WTF should my tax dollars pay for some elite school to have everything while most children go to public schools that are starved of funding....Priorities mate....If the rich want to eat cake let them pay for the privilege....Funding private institutions that are elite whilst ignoring the plight in the public sector is bullshit and a misappropriation of resources....More proof that we are being screwed by the elite to accept they are more deserving???

If I have one extraordinarily gifted racehorse which may be a champion. Then I would give it the very best of pasture.

I would actively exclude the slow horses and the frail and infirm horses from this prime pasture.

It would be lunacy not to shower every advantage on the most talented.

We do this with sport and the AIS.

So with academia, we should ensure our gifted students are not held back by the chodes

See part of the deal is getting to know other important people's kids for future business contacts.

So a private school is essential.

The money kicked in by the taxpayer is usually a lot less than the per child rate of a public school.

I guess we could could go your way and people who opt out of public schools could get a tax rebate. Sounds fair.

Yeah, private schools have more money because the parents pay fees. The amount from the Govt is less. A lot less. Read your article next time.

Chief executive of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW Geoff Newcombe said: "Differences in school income are due to fees collected from parents who choose to use their after-tax dollars to contribute to the cost of their child's education, rather than spending on other discretionary items."

It's a good deal for the taxpayer.  I know the per child contribution at my daughter's school is 25% of what the local highschool gets.

this is off topic I know but what about kids with special needs...

where do they all fit in with this govt hand outs??

I have someone with a special needs kid hes 10 now..
is autistic and been in a special school since he started and its all he knows..his mum had moved into ACt and cannot find him a place in a special needs class  they want him in normal school  and it wont work for him

where does she go for help with his education?....she has to work and need support from the system to be able to access after school care as well....

so where is my tax dollar going  as I am sure there are many special needs kids in ACT... and the bloody system is failing them.

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

See part of the deal is getting to know other important people's kids for future business contacts.

So a private school is essential.

So if you can afford it send your kids to private school but don't expect the taxpayers to pay for it

Chief executive of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW Geoff Newcombe said: "Differences in school income are due to fees collected from parents who choose to use their after-tax dollars to contribute to the cost of their child's education, rather than spending on other discretionary items."

they shouldn't be getting any

Why not. The parents are paying their share of tax.

Is it because the children of wealthy important people are naturally smarter than the children of the lowly working class ?

Nope.

You know why the rich like to call themselves the "cream"? Because they're RICH and THICK.
