World’s busiest airports
Aug 13th, 2019 at 3:42am

I leave from #1 every time I go anywhere. Every other airport I have visited was designed with the approach and presentation in mind. Not Hartsfield - it is an ugly disaster in every direction.

World’s busiest airports by total passenger traffic

1 Atlanta Hartfield
2 Beijing Capital Intl
3 Dubai Intl
4 LAX
5 Tokyo Intl
6 Chicago O’Hare
7 London Heathrow
8 Hong Kong Intl (currently shut down)
9 Shanghai Pudong
10 Paris de Gaulle

Airports Council Intl

I misread that for a sec and though you said you leave a #1. I was wondering what you’re doing at Delhi airport.

Most people would be surprised to learn that one of the busiest airports in Australia is a tiny little facility in suburban Perth.

Jandakot Airport is the 5th busiest (by aircraft movements) airport in Australia.

It's busier than Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide Airport.

So why is Atlanta the worlds busiest airport?
It's not exactly a "go to" destination.
Or are most of the passengers transiting?

The airport has international service within North America and to South America, Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia. As an international gateway to the United States, Hartsfield–Jackson ranks seventh.[3] Many of the nearly one million flights are domestic flights; the airport is a major hub for travel in the southeastern region of the country.

I have spent a considerable amount of time in both HK and Shanghai airports.
Both are quite well managed.
HK has a great Qantas club, but Shanghai has no Qantas Club you have to use lounge 69 I think.
Nowhere near as good as HK, and meals are very limited, but hey, it's China.

LAX is a hole, especially when flying out with Qantas.

Heathrow is miles ahead of where it was several years ago.
It's probably as good as it's going to be, soooooo many people.
Access to the tube is really great, catch it almost straight to my motel every time I go there.

But the busiest airport I believe is Helsinki, every time I fly to Finland that is a stopover and it's always packed solid.

Perth is only busy in the outgoing, no one wants to be there.
There is usually only 2 or 3 people coming in, and hundreds heading out
Usually fighting to get on the plane first to get away from the place.
Once it's empty, they will probably just bomb the place so that no one will ever go there again.

While it isn't a go-to destination, it is quite convenient living near enough to fly out of. Year before last I went to Jamaica and met a couple from Scotland who told me of their seeming nightmare journey while I had an easy two-hour flight. Same with Cancun this year - met a German who had a long, long flight with a change, while I only had a quick two-hour flight.  Non-stop to most any place I want to go from ATL - did Japan a few weeks ago -  but not AUS, as far as I know.

I've been to O'hare, Heathrow & LAX  -
none of them had food fit for human consumption.
Charles Degaulle was ok.

I live right near Australia's first international airport. Not busy but you can get a good coffee there, and say hi to Mal and Lucy as they walk past.
