ABC news and current affairs? Who watches/listens to that shite? Guardianistas.

Love the nonpolitical ABC. Otherwise they are too stupid and tendentious. SBS DITTO.

I didn't know that.
Thanks for the info.
That was very nasty of him.

Not mentioned on 4 Corners, hey. Just the spin from his lawyer about the timing seeming suspicious.

As i initially said, i believe that 4 Corners has uncharacteristically taken a position and that is to push the argument regarding freedom of the press.

Even teh title of the documentary is sensationalist. And certainly ot making a convincing case for the villain option it offers.

I was not impressed by the doco, it seemed prejudicial ... not that i overly disagreed with anything ... but it was rather obvious the point that 4 Corners was underpinning and that is one of freedom of the press.

I suspect behind the airing of this is the endeavour to strike a blow for journalistic freedom and much of what Assange did, particularly relating to the charges in Sweden, went virtually untouched.

It will be interesting to see how next week pans out but i expect more of the same. I doubt very much that the Wikileaks attacks on feminism and gendered attacks on women will be even mentioned.

Pretty crappy journalism, all in all. I expect better from 4 Corners.

I thought it was very balanced -
it showed both sides of the story.

And yet i've just mentioned an very important detail that was skipped right over, that being why he was being sought by Sweden at all.

And i'll bet you don;t know.

Stick with TT and ACA, Bobby. They're more your speed.

Well - I wouldn't do what he did -
releasing 10s of 1000s of top secret documents
without any redaction.

I would have been tempted to release that video of innocent people being murdered.

And the women in Sweden? Do you know why Sweden were after him?

Sex without a condom against the will of a woman.

There was more than one woman ... and one of them was asleep.

When and where was he convicted of this crime?

You could have simply searched "Assange std test' instead of waiting to be spoonfed the information ... but then again, you are you:

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange could have headed off Swedish rape allegations if he’d simply agreed to an HIV test after unprotected sex with two women, London’s Sunday Mail reported today.

The British paper quoted an unnamed Swedish colleague who said he practically begged Assange, 39, to allay the women’s fears, but Assange called the request “blackmail” and refused.

“The two women told me, that if he goes to the clinic for an HIV test, then we won’t go to the police,’ said the source, who insisted on anonymity because he is a witness in Swedish investigation.

And something perhaps a little more infomative than Cods' dot points:

Thanks Mothra,
so it's true about the VD tests.
Also true that not only 4 Corners failed to mention it.

I find it extremely hard to believe he would spend 7 years in a foreign Embassy living like a tramp...when all he had to do was take a HIV test. I presume no one has been diagnosed with HIV... wouldnt they have found it easier to have had themselves tested in that case...I mean Govt are involved in this case . the rape issue was dropped on more than one occasion seems a bit odd to me as well....
