Protests to continue as Adani gets to work
The Standard

Adani is getting on with the job of building its Carmichael coal mine as opponents prepare for a renewed campaign of protests.   Smiley

The mining giant released pictures and videos of bridge reinforcement work underway on Friday, a day after winning Queensland approval to construct the thermal coal mine.

Opponents of the Galilee Basin mine project say politicians have failed them, so they will wage a nonviolent campaign and brave mass arrests to stop the project.

Ben Pennings from Galilee Blockade says politicians have failed to represent the people of Queensland.

"Sustained nonviolent tactics like strikes, boycotts, street occupations and blockades will communicate our refusal to ever allow thermal coal mining in the Galilee Basin.

"Whoever gets contracted to build the Adani mine is a brave company indeed."

Former Greens leader Bob Brown said there will be a peaceful vigil outside the India's high commission in Canberra on Saturday to highlight what he says is Adani's "appalling record of environmental destruction and corruption" overseas.

Other protests will follow.

Adani Australia chief executive Lucas Dow said there could be up to 1800 ongoing jobs once the company starts exporting coal, expected within two years.

Even the fear of being displaced from their positions of privilege have terrorised the Labor government there into meek and abject surrender, and now instead of mounting barbed steeds to fright the souls of fearful adversaries, they caper meekly in a lady's chamber to the lascivious pleasing of the lute of profit and political expedience.

Just goes to show how far political principle actually goes, eh?  Happy to change like a weather vane.. just like Pauline Hanson..... that must be the effect of women on politics.... principle vanishes like a tear drop in a tropical downpour....

A Grappler government, on the other hand, would stand its ground, and say come what may - this is what we stand for.... not Labor, though... or LNP.. or any others.... apart from one or two Independents....

Bullshit. You could have created tens of thousands of jobs installing fiber to the home but instead you flushed 50 billion down the drain giving us something that is not much better than what we already have Sad

It's good that Adani will create a handful of jobs for dunder heads running coffee shops and fish and chip shops. Pauline can get her old job back now Cheesy LOL

Idiots !
