Okay.....but why does this mean petrol prices go up? Are they the only two tankers in the Universe? What has happened to the oil in them? They seem to be still floating? What?

Any excuse for service stations to raise petrol prices 10c/L, they will take it. It takes forever for the price of petrol to fall to a reasonable level when the oil prices drop.

Iran and Saudi Arabia are very dependent on oil.... exports. Though both countries are diversifying their industries, a large shift away from countries buying their oil will hurt their economy. It would hurt countries like Australia, the USA, Russia, and Norway, too. But, atleast our economies are not strongly reliant on oil exports.

There is a global market for oil. My friends and I are hardly representative of it. But I would buy from the place charging $1.40 rather than the place charging $1.45.

Also, you are leaving out the entire supply side from your equation.
