"TO CHINA, HONG KONG IS A CITY FULL OF FUGITIVES"
QUESTION;If in an effort to solve the HK problem, China chose to simply replace Hong Kong residents with 'mainlanders',
would Hong Kong still be, Hong Kong ?e.g.
All powerful Chairman Xi, could simply issue a new decree.
'All current Hong Kong residents have been allocated spacious, modern residences in cities, within mainland China, and those on the current list, will be 'evacuated' to their new homes, over the next two weeks.'
'Any persons who resist this relocation scheme will instead be sent to a re-education facility in one of China's far western provinces.'As the relocation progressed, over a few years, the entire population of Hong Kong would eventually be replaced with 'mainlanders'.
And, when the relocations were completed, 'Hong Kong' would still be there,
the Hong Kong we know, would still exist.
Wouldn't it ?!!
But now, Hong Kong would be entirely populated by people who had been born on the mainland..
This could never happen in today's modern China ?PRO.....Xi, is a powerful autocratic leader, over
a powerful authoritarian state.
Chairman Xi could simply announce there would be a 'HK resident replacement' program.
And he could
lawfully authorise sending Chinese troops, into Hong Kong, to 'oversee' and enforce the decree.
AND, this action would not be unlawful.
China as a political state,
has [and asserts] absolute sovereignty over the province and the people of Hong Kong.
If China ever did something like this, the world community may issue strongly worded objections and protests.
But i doubt anyone [any other political state] would actually have any personal 'interest' in 'directly' intervening in this matter.
