As a male in the Medical Industry - I never attended to anyone under 20 years of age (Child) - be they male or female unless I was attended with 'female' Staff under strict supervision (hopefully just for emergencies). Attending in regards to 'personal space' of Toileting, Showering, Bed Bathing, etc.
It was just an ethical thing and when I was asked to attend to a boy to aid in toileting, I refused! I then found myself up in the top of the pyramid office of the Hospital where I was condemned for my action and told I can not refuse. Such was the attack, I basically found myself telling them to
"Get F*ucked!" This is the head honcho, I was saying this to.
They said it was an Emergency. I said they were lying! They didn't sack me though. Not even a suspension.
...then there was the time at an inner city Hospital, where the vast majority (seemed like 'all') of the male Staff were all 'Gay'. As I was a nice and pleasant person myself, I managed to work there for a good number of weeks. It wasn't until they noticed that I would sit next to the Lesbian women at Meal Break and Pre-Shift times and converse with them about things other than little white fluffy dogs. I soon found myself in the Head Office of that Department and told with a very catty scowl that
"...your services are no longer required here." and that was that. I just said
"Thankyou" and left.
