Sydney water shortage the real reason
Jun 8th, 2019 at 8:25am

Sydney currently has water shortages and water restrictions

The concern that our Warragamba dam has gone from full in 2015 to 53% has triggered code red

The one saying the experts aren't discussing is the elephant in the room

Over 100,000 extra people thanks to our generous migration program

Our population has soared but not the capacity in our dams

Time the authorities got real about why we are in crisis and curb migration until we can afford the luxury of having enough water for our population

Oops, a mere oversight I am sure, who would have thought that this many people coming in in just one month alone would need water. Shut the gates or build more dams roads hospitals airports etc, and fix the god damn pothole down the road from my place.

QLD's desal plant has been a "white elephant" since it was built.

Desalination Plants eventually come into play because no matter how many dams are built ... if it doesn't rain, the dams are actually useless.

When they become too low, then Blue-green algae becomes a real threat.

The one water source that remains a constant is the sea, so Desalination Plants are a good idea.

Do they cost an arm and a leg to produce drinkable water?

I shower three times a day. I let the hose run in the yard during nights when we have not had rain for over two weeks. No water restrictions here.

People still think water should be almost free. It is the communists in the council who think micromanaging how people use water is a good idea, while charging so little for it that people tip it on the ground without a second thought. Water is a great example of money talks, BS walks.

Yes, they are quite expensive to run.

But then again, water is an "essential element" for life.

Left the water running last night over the brown patches of the back yard, for an hour. Today, the grass is nice and green.

Rubbish. It was built to be used only when needed. It was never built to be used permanently. Since completion, it's been used 4 times.  It's doing the job it was built to do.
