I was in Mackay, doing some consultation work in the mines a few years ago.
It required me to drive up to a mining camp near Goonyella.

Driving along the road not 15k from Goonyella, I glanced at the dash temp gauge, it hit -1°
This is in Queensland, inland mind, but still Queensland.

I guess there is always somewhere you don't expect the cold, but it's there.
When I left Mackay at 2200 hours, it was 25° .
