https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/world/britains-prime-minister-theresa-res...The front runner to replace former British Prime Minister Theresa May has warned he was prepared for a no-deal Brexit that could cripple the European economy.
Boris Johnson, a former London Mayor, who is favourite with the bookmakers to win the Tory party ballot drew a line in the sand yesterday.
As European leaders continue to put forward deals that punish the UK for leaving the bloc, Mr Johnson said he would walk away on October 31 without a deal unless they compromised.
Mr Johnson was at a conference in Interlaken, Switzerland, and said he would seek to renegotiate the Brexit deal if he became prime minister.
But he stressed that “you need to be prepared to walk away” without a deal if necessary, in order to ensure the UK does actually leave the EU.
A no-deal Brexit would save Britain billions of pounds in fees to the European Union but without trade agreements the European economy would be badly hurt.
Mrs May resigned yesterday, saying she regretted she was unable to pass Brexit, despite three years of negotiations.
World leaders have offered sympathy and solidarity for Mrs May, but it was unclear whether her departure will make any improvement in the Brexit shambles.
United States President Donald Trump, who makes a state visit to the UK in early June, praised Mrs May.
“I feel badly for Theresa. I like her very much. She is a good woman. She worked very hard,” he said.
“She is very strong.”
But he said she did the right thing by walking away.
“It’s for the good of her country. I like her very much,” he added.
“In fact, I’ll be seeing her in two weeks.”
Mrs May will step down on June 7, shortly after Mr Trump ends his visit.
Mr Johnson, former Brexit secretary Dominic Raab, Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt, and Sir Graham Brady were among the names being floated as runners in the ballot for the new Prime Minister.
I trust one of these MEN will have the answer
I do hope there isnt any outside influence happening here...
