Agreed.  It's no fun being stuck with the same crook government because the opposition failed to do its job.  All we got from this exercise is more millions in debt for a flub election

nah ... his problem was that he believed people would be willing to accept parting with their wealthfare for the benefit of the country ... he was wrong.

Franking credits are not welfare. Dole blushing is welfare.

But it’s all good, keep burying your head in the sand, it just means more terms of government for the Coalition.

My parents, good hardworking self-funded retirees who don’t get a cent of pension, now get to keep their franking credits,  Smiley

sorry chump, but getting a refund for money you never paid is wealthfare ... no matter how much you tell yourself otherwise

Can you explain how it is welfare and how it is funded by taxpayers?

Oh no, much more than that. We get to see these incompetent clowns left with their own failing economy to manage. As I said previously, sad for australia but thems the breaks.

When the arsehole is faced with an economy downturn which is coming, and introduces an Abbott style mini budget lets see who is smiling!

Absolutely.

What really surprised me though was not just the losses of some seats, but also the swings in some seats. Longman, for example, I don’t think that anyone would have expected the Libs to win and yet they won 55-45. Macquarie is a seat that I don’t think that anyone expected the Libs to really come close and yet at the moment it is still in doubt, with Labor holding a narrow lead. I have heard that the member there, Susan Templeman, is very popular so the Labor brand must be really on the nose there, and in nearby Lindsay they were also smashed.

franking credits would have only affected about 200 000 people, and most of them on the top end of town. Pensioners were exempt.

NG changes would have affected a lot more people.

either way, next time labor will shut up and not announce policy beforehand.

After pensioners were made exempt, there remained 850,000 affected.

The Economy only would have  turned down when Shorten and 'Gumby' Bowen put a wrecking ball through it

I know people in the building trade who have already put people off in anticipation of a Labor Government

Confidence will now be restored and as a result the building trade will pick up again

Shorten put a dampener on investment because he 'wanted punish the big end of town'

His thrust was all about higher taxation and socialism

This is not a formula to take a nation's economy forward

I am surprised at the breadth of the victory. It shows how nervous they were about Shorten and his climate change claptrap

For those bemoaning Labor's nosedive, look on the bright side, you have 4 years to get over it Grin

Ok, I hadn't checked my numbers earlier and ran with what I could recall ... it wasn't 200 000

but it wasn't 850 000 either

no, there were 610 000 who currently receive the credits and the policy would only affect those who didn't pay tax, or who didn't earn more than the tax free threshold ... which according to the libs was 54% of that 610 000. That means it only really affected about 320 000 people.

https://www.ioof.com.au/financial-advisers/news-and-insights/adviser-news/articl...

Still no where near enough to account for the swing against labor.
