Basically, the destruction of union membership base.
From ABS report 6310.0 (2011); "Trade union membership has generally declined since 1992. From August 1992 to August 2011, the proportion of those who were trade union members in their main job has fallen from 43% to 18% for employees who were males and 35% to 18% for females.".
Policy differences and personalities aside, if you remove that dramatic supporter base decline, they have enough numbers to have won more.

They don't have the media on their side, not even the ABC, because they tend to do what is best for the people, not those who control the media.

Muffin faced Plibersek does little more than prop up Shorten and when she's not doing that she's sikking her party's Dick Tracys onto the disabled, trying to convince the public that the genuinely disabled should be tossed into a corner on bread and water.  Remember the article I posted a month or so ago which spelled that out -- and Plibersek's hit-men could only come up with 8 disability insurance rorters out of hundreds/thousands?  That's the mark of Plibersek.  She looks as if she was moulded from the same uncooked dough as Shorten, but she's a vicious big viper beneath the smile

Then there's Wong, who of the three at least has a reasonable brain.  Trouble is, rather than address her own issues, she tries to project them onto society at large under the guise of 'better government'.  Sooner or later, Wong is due for her own dark night of the soul

So what attracted you to Gillard, who stole from inactive bank accounts without notice then gave it to Adelaid uni and received an honorary doctorate in return?  And that was after the disgraceful antics and blatant theft in which she was heavily involved and which has been 'kindly' buried by both LNP and Labor
