I believe that as part of Taqyyia ( to further the cause of Allah ie: spread Islam and to divert attentions and suspicion from themselves ) that moslems are permitted to say they aren’t moslems.
....and even do haram things, like eat pork, drink alcohol , go to strip clubs.

As part of taqyyia moslems are also permitted to lie and to swear false oaths ( even swear on the Bible ).

This is why we can’t trust ANY Moslem.

Their oath of citizenship, oath of office ( like the moslems in the federal Goverment) and police and military oaths are all suspect.

We have no way of determining if a Moslem says he is a moslem because that’s his identity, it’s what his parents are, and they don’t fast during Ramadan, don’t read the Koran, don’t attend mosque on Friday, don’t pray 5 times daily and dont observe the Islamic dietary laws.
....and just wants to live in a country where they can prosper, aren’t subject to wars or problems getting food , housing and education their children.
....some of these moslems are secretly apostates and only claim to be moslems because their family would reject them.

Or if he is a practicing, devout Moslem who does everything that the Koran and Hadith command , including following Mohammed’s example.
.....and is working to spread Islam in non moslem countries so as to obey the command in the Koran that moslems fight against kafir “ until there is no religion but Allah’s”.

And this “working in the cause of Allah” can mean anything that will help Islam , moslems, and to make all non Moslem countries Islamic countries..

As Dr. Bill Warner says....the political,Islam is that part that deals with us, the kafir , the unbeliever....that’s the majority of the Koran, Sira and Hadiths!

We don’t are how a Moslem washes before prayer, how many times he prays, what he eats or doesn’t eat....

Because those things aren’t killing us....but the parts that concern kafir, that is killing us , and causing problems with Western law, culture and thought.
