renewable energy definitely stops fossil fuels from being burnt and their poisons being put in the air and land.

So they don't burn fossil fuels when the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow?

You mean they don't run those generators as backup even when the sun do shine and the wind do blow?

lee evidently hasn't heard of batteries. lee has earned another shilling fee from his masters.

How much energy does it take to make batteries and where does that energy come from?

In any case, CO2 is the gas that made life possible on Earth and is the gas, with oxygen and hydrogen, that maintains life on Earth.  No plant life without CO2.  The 'war' on CoE to is like the war on air and water.  Idiotic.

In the 70s it was all about global cooling. Now it's global warming and then simply climate change - whatever happens is 'bad'.  And its the eyewash from the  the people who want to change EVERYTHING about human societies - as long us the one dynamic thing in the world can be arrested and kept is aspic.  You see and hear someone utter the words 'climate action' you see and hear a complete idiot. An heir to the various failed 'progressive' hurrah henries over the last 200 years

Well more and more of the energy for making batteries is from renewable power... but is you think CO2 is a good thing what does it matter ?
What about all the other toxins that come from burning fossil fuels, plus the left overs like ash.... fair enough CO2 might be good but you cant ignore the other poisons . Or is smog, black lung ,Asthma just good for us as well  Wink

When did you last see smog in Australia  or Europe or North America? 1964?

China, India, Egypt, Indonesia? Last week?

why does it matter where the poisoning is happening, I know for my health I would rather live in the bush than in the middle of a city and especially if I have respiratory problems....

Fossil Fuels being burnt poison us and our land  it has to stop. Global warming and CO2 is just a distraction. Wink

Does burning pre-fossil fuel poison us and our land?

if you mean burning wood... well yes and it's a major health hazard in developing countries when used in enclosed spaces for cooking and heating... i'm not really sure what your asking .

Still asking that question does distract from the original statement  Wink

Yes burning wood, even in some unenlightened place like Australia. Wink

Actually in poor countries, except tropical forest areas because it grow back so quickly, they use dung fires, usually because the wood is already gone. And that is really deadly.

In Kenya they are giving the poorer people solar panels and LED lights for the same daily price as they used to pay for a pint of Kerosene for light for the night. There is a lot happening in Africa where people are getting power from solar panels off the grid. AS panels get cheaper and peoples lives get better they can add more power.

All his still doesn't change the fact that when you burn Fossil fuels you poison us and our land though, weather of not it changes the climate doesn't really matter. Wink

Does it provide enough electricity to cook their tea? You don't seem to mention that. Or do they still use dung fires for their food and warmth?

Well as you know heating takes a lot of energy so i doubt it, isn't there a Australian made invention for cooking they are distributing around Africa to help clean up the air when cooking ? Then there are the solar convection stoves, only good during the day and sunny but very cheep.

Like with everything life goes on till a better way comes along...… it's a shame you seem so worried and focused on the old ways. As renewable energy gets better it will help more people...

I have read about them. Good for cooking tea it says. To DRINK.

"“Fluctuations in sunshine can hinder cooking using the solar (system) but with the basket we nowadays prepare tea during the day and can drink it after sunset,” said Peter Wanga, whose family has been using a solar cooking system since last year."

How do fossil fuels poison us and the land? Aren't those poisons in the fossil fuel to start with? In the very earth?

Invest in televisions for the third world. Whilst they are still hungry and poor, they will at least be distracted by tv shows. Then they won't breed as much.

yes we dig up Fossil Fuels from the earth then burn them and they poison us and our land, just look at any big city and the air quality.... Leave them in the ground or at least don't just burn them for heat, they are very good building blocks for many products and should be managed as such... Wink
Do you think Uranium ore is perfectly safe to put everywhere because it's from the ground......
How about Asbestos, it's just from the ground.
So is Lead
Every pollutant in the world has to have a natural source Lee, so your saying because of that we should just keep using them in our everyday life ?

I guess Sydney is not big. When I have been there I have seen the "pollution" of the Blue Mountains.

Nothing is perfectly safe petal. You can drown in a few teaspoons of water.

It is certainly safe. Provided you don't use the International Atomic Energy Agency figures because they are modelled, not actual deaths.DonDeeHippy wrote on May 25th, 2019 at 8:23am:

They will probably masturbate more often and breed less.

no by worlds standards Sydney isn't big and you live in WA don't you,  have you lived in Sydney ?

Ohh that's right you love using the blue mountains as a reason why we shouldn't care about pollution from burning Fossil fuels.....Wink
