Left out the war on Baby Boomers that is part of this ad itself...... short-sighted and narrow minded in that regard... generally I like these ads, on the mark etc - but they missed there.

It's not Baby Boomers buying  their fifth investment property - it's business parasites.  Most Baby Boomers in retirement have the pension and little more.

Correct .... and even with my super I'll en up on the pension after I take out the currrent debt I still hold

because my children (young people) didn't do without anything ....

I too usually like these ads ... but blaming Boomers is bs.

Mothra also likes the comment that the indigenous youth suicide is blamed on inter-generational colonisation.

Never mind that youth suicide is rife across the whole national youth demographic.

Pretty much the same here - my children, my Indigenes, my Muslims and so forth never went without anything - yet I'm to blame for everything they can't create for themselves, as some form of vicious right wing extremist because I dare to breathe the same air....

My kids I have no worries about - one is a tradie with heaps and the other is a movie maker up your way or so... cousins of the Nolans in Hollywood so they'll be fine...

I'd be happy to retire at Pension level alone without a mortgage, required to keep the disabled ex comfortable etc.

Mortgage relief for the retiree on little, anyone?  Just a pack of old bludgers holding out their hand... though I challenge all those critics to do 10% of what I have in this life...

I'd happily accept carer PENSION on top... might pay its way then....

Mortgage relief should be paid to everyone under a certain income.

Just extend the rent relief system to cover mortgage payments also. Simple.

Sad, but true.

i agree its true but its not sad.

its inspirational!!!

throughout all of history humans have relied on "evolutionary pressure ' to bring out the best in themselves.

and that pressure is whats missing from modern society.

people can now, for the first time in recorded history, survive and reproduce without offering any value to their society.

clearly this is a catastrophe for human kind.

but governments have now been able to provide this "pressure" so that sitting on your ass and pleasuring yourself will no longer be a viable option.

things just got too easy.

even a chode in the 70's could achieve the house with a picket fence and 2 kids and leisure time.

but, thanks to our governments , those days are over.

you are going to have to hustle and get down, elbows deep in the mud and grind it out to even get that.

and a lot of the snowflakes wont do it.

increasingly, there will be the scrubs who identify with mothras story of 'self pity" and those people are screwed.

you could afford the luxury of self pity in the 70's and 80's and still do ok.

no longer,

self pity and feeling you are a victim are no longer luxuries you can afford.

just suppress those emotions the moment they arise and hustle and grind it out and you just might make it.
you still may not, but thats the best hope you have

My super will run out when I turn 78 if I keep up my current spending.

And I don't give a shite

I'll live comfortably spending as I will, from 62 through to 78 and not have a care in the world.

At 78 I will go over to the aged pension and suck the grubberment dry.

Screw am, I'm entitled, I worked, paid taxes and saved.

If things get tight, I'll simply take more out and get the grubberment pension earlier.

I own everything I have, including my home.
Have two new cars and don't owe a cent to anyone

I'll be happy to take the millennials taxes to live on, rejoicing in the knowledge that they won't ever, ever, ever get a pension, and I will.

Politics of division, cods - not sure if the unthinking is on the politics or the division... I seriously doubt government lackeys even know the difference...

No wonder Muslims, Aboriginals and women think they can demand and get their own set of laws etc.... government plays right into that kind of division and exclusion ....

50,000 Australians put their arses on the line in Vietnam. Over 500 died. Many injured. Where were you?

And I have had enough confrontational experience to qualify as having done my part for my country.

However, IF they own their own home and if they are on the Age Pension they get rebates on Rates, Electricity, Registration, cheap medications, Bulk Billing and a bunch of other stuff. They do not need to starve.  Wink

On the other hand, IF they didn't go without when younger to buy a house and rented, they have nothing and the Age Pension will definitely NOT cover a decent living.

The moral of the story is:

Get a job
Save your money for a deposit on a house and go without all the "frills" and holidays to Bali
Buy what you can afford (i.e. a 1 bedroom apartment ... up grade later)
Pay off the Mortgage over 25 years
Keep working until retirement

Go right ahead sock.  You won't fool him either.

Yes, I am banned from the sewer because I am not popular among the right wing nutter turds there. I'll wear that as a badge of honour.  No, I do not 'keep signing up with socks to check' etc.  How could a competent Admin allow a banned Member in unless registration there is automated as it is here?  Is BO so dumb that she cannot check the IP of a person seeking Membership?  Maybe it is automated there.

So I guess given that question of yours, you are admitting that you are a sock of someone there.

Aren't you the "aussie" who was banned here and signed in as Ivan Itch recently?

If you are asking me if I ever posted here using a sock during a ban, the answer is ....no.  I would never hand the anxious Vic that sort of opportunity.  If you are asking me if I am 'Ivan Itch,'...I will neither confirm or deny.  Pretty cool name that, I have to admit and I am jealous of it.

Live Happily Ever After with the love of your life who you met when 20.  Grin

If only it were that simple..... far more things take place than simply what you describe... work/income interruption, divorce, sickness... it's not just black and white.

What?! Not "all" of the generation?

are you trying to tell us you resent your demographic being represented by negative stereotypes?

So it's not the principle you object to, just who it gets to be applied to. Namely you and anyone like you ... and not Muslims, Aboriginal people, brown-skinned people, LGBTQ people, women, or any representative of any particular country, while we're at it.

Grap agrees. That makes two of you. Anyone else? Gordy? Setanta?

So.... errrrh... which PART of that generation would you like to blame?  Grin  Grin  Grin

So - in your eyes only (007) - it's perfectly in order for Muslims, Aboriginal people, brown-skinned people, LGBTQ people, women, or any representative of any particular country - to be offended by anything they choose at any given moment - but if Whartey as represented by the Old Wharte Man  or even Men generally, has a grievance, that is unacceptable?

Who'd 've thunk it in an allegedly democratic, egalitarian society and nation allegedly dedicated to genuine equal treatment and equity for all

Gotcha, chief!?

When and where have I ever treated a niqqer, chink, slope, dago, eyetie, wop, spick, musso or other outlander unequally?

How are those demographics treated unequally?  Speak up - stop and take five deep breaths, get hold of your mounting aggression, and  please explain?

I was going to let this pass with a "I am not blaming the previous generation for anything. I was just saying that they had it easier than my generation". Then I was going to sum up with the fact that my parents were the generation before mine, obviously. So, I hold no hatred for them and their contemporaries of the 1960s and 1970s.

But, I was wondering why you think it is "bs" that the non-whites and aborigines of the Baby Boomer generation did not have it as easy as their white contemporaries?

Australia has become so expensive that people can't afford children anymore.
Instead - couples just raise little white fluffy dogs and pet vehicles.

The Governments (both) love that women are out working and not staying home raising children - its good for 'their' Economic pockets.

It took Mum and Dad 15 years to pay off a $20,000 loan for the home they live. Three children. Low living expenses. Yeah, I know what it was like. But, heaven help them if they were to pay off a $150,000 loan for a home these days, even with low interest rates. Kids or no kids.

What "confrontational experience" are you referring to?

Mainly drug dealer related. Knife to the throat. Getting shot at. Even getting shot. Police assuming that I am a potential serial killer during the time that Leonard Fraser was on the prowl. Treated with contempt by former high school teachers over relationship issues I had with them prior to graduation. Needing to fend for myself when they decide that the rumours about me need action to remedy the situation.

The things I have done for the country include routing the drug dealers in some areas. This lead to a downturn in crime for a while. But now other drug dealers have moved in to take their place. I have helped catch criminals who were hero-homicidalists, but unknown to the public until I figured them out. I have helped with psychological techniques to identify behaviours that have clued investigators into dealing with crimes that have stumped them. I saved the life of a soldier, back in the late 1990s, when schitt hit the fan around town. I prevented a few rapes of teenagers with diversionary tactics against the potential likely rapists. And I have been acknowledged by authorities that I have potentially saved the community $140 million dollars since 1995, in halting unnecessary expenditure with various ideas that have been implemented.

That is "confrontational experience" in both good and bad examples.

Baby Boomers: Good wages, plenty of jobs, cheap housing, safe societies. It is only migrants from non-white countries and aborigines of this Baby Boomer generation that had it more difficult than their contemporaries.

And I was not blaming other people.

You certainly were blaming other people ... a generation of people.

As for your below statement I'd say you actually wouldn't have a clue ... in fact it's bs.

Quote:
It is only migrants from non-white countries and aborigines of this Baby Boomer generation that had it more difficult than their contemporaries.

Every generation before had it harder than the next.

Why is that different for non whites and aboriginals?

And you're unemployed?

You don't get picked up by helicopter in the middle of the night do you?

Nope, you're butthurt because your demographic was unfavourably represented.

Unbelievable coming form you, but there it is.

What's more, you do it all the time

Not at all - I simply pointed out the reality of unequal treatment.

Bahahahaha!

The irony!

When and where have I ever treated a niqqer, chink, slope, dago, eyetie, wop, spick, musso or other outlander unequally?

How are those demographics treated unequally?  Speak up - stop and take five deep breaths, get hold of your mounting aggression, and  please explain?

You're beyond ridiculous.

How were you treated unequally by a gag that baby boomers are buying up all the real estate?

Deflecting, eh?  A 'gag'.... then it should be posted in jokes...

Now - which part of that generation would you like to condemn?   Huh

Well - I do, but the desperadoes just keep coming back with more and more personal sledges as a substitute for actual discussion... and I just keep hitting them out of the park.... don't want them to feel they are controlling the discussion with their sledging.

Funny thing - I was about to say the very same thing about the Endless Sock-Naming War that goes on and on between some here...

Shoot the opinions, not the sock....

You have basically agreed with me. That was my argument. Indigenous Australians and non-white migrants born in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s and living in Australia have had it much harder growing up compared to their white Australian counterparts. Indigenous Australians born in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, have had it relatively easy compared to my generation.

Non-white migrants and non-white Australian born people have had some degree of discrimination. However the Generation X/Y and Millenials have it relatively equal with white Generation X/Y and Millenials.

Underemployed. I work between 10 and 25 hours per week. Some weeks I work less than 10 hours. Other weeks, I can work up to 50 hours.
